Controversy again erupted during Coco Gauff‘s match. Gauff, who shared the flag bearing duties for the United States along with LeBron James in the opening ceremony at the Paris Olympics, and was dreaming of her first gold, was crying during her third-round match against Croatia’s Donna Vekic.
The 20-year-old Gauff, who is featuring in her first Olympics, lost the match with scores of 7-6(9-7), 6-2. But before that, during the sixth game of the second set, she argued with the umpire over a line call.
Gauff was about to return a shot from Vekic but a line judge called the ball out before Gauff returned it. However, the chair umpire, Jaume Campistol, awarded the point to Vekic as she thought the ball landed inside the line in the break point. Gauff broke down in tears and argued with the chair umpire for nearly 10 minutes.
I feel like I'm getting cheated constantly in this game. This is the 3rd time this happens to me this year.Coco Gauff shouted at the umpire

Coco Gauff argued with chair umpire during this year's French Open over line call
Earlier in June, a similar incident happened when Coco Gauff was locking horns with World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the semifinal of the French Open at the Philippe-Chatrier court.
During the fourth game of the second set, Swiatek served the ball and the line judge called it out, but the chair umpire called it in. Gauff, who missed the ball, argued that she did not hit the ball only because of the line judge's call. And as the umpire was adamant that the point would be awarded to Swiatek, it left the 20-year-old in tears.
I didn't even finish my follow through. He called it before I hit it. Can you ask him? They're booing because you're wrong… I have the right to finish my swing.Coco Gauff said while arguing with the chair umpire
Gauff lost the match 6-2, 6-4 after which, Swiatek, in the final, defeated Jasmine Paolini without breaking a sweat to win her fourth (and third consecutive) French Open trophy.
