Coco Gauff ended the season as the third-ranked player with a 48-16 win-loss record. But for the second consecutive time, the American finished the season as a player who hit the most double faults on the women’s tour.
Last year, she was the only player to cross the 400-mark tally, committing 430 double faults. This year, it was no different, as her tally was 431. It’s because of the serving woes that she broke down in tears during the US Open.
Because of her serving struggles, Gauff has been dealing with a lot of criticism from some sections of the tennis community. But her father, Corey Gauff, rushed to her defense when a tennis page on Instagram criticized her service games.
Relax it’s a stat and a fact and an area to improve she will improve; she always does the work doesn’t lie … will be hard to find someone working harder than her on her game…. 2026 she coming !!!!

Gauff played five finals and lifted two titles this year. After struggling this year, which also saw her lose in the early rounds, the 21-year-old played the finals of the Madrid Open and the Italian Open, losing both to Aryna Sabalenka and Jasmine Paolini, respectively.
Gauff, however, took her revenge on Sabalenka when they met in the French Open final. She struggled once again to make deep runs until the Asian swing. Although she failed to defend the China Open, Gauff took home the Wuhan Open by defeating compatriot Jessica Pegula.
Coach Nick Saviano discusses meeting Coco Gauff for the first time
Eugenie Bouchard‘s former coach, Nick Saviano, recently sat for an interview with Florida Tennis, during which he discussed meeting Coco Gauff for the first time. Saviano said it was Corey Gauff who contacted him for the first time.

Corey Gauff contacted me about coming out to take a look at his daughter, and I’d heard good things about her. When she came out [to his academy], I knew: ‘Okay, this one’s really special’. She was really good. Very disciplined, very respectful, just a wonderful young girl.
Nick Saviano told Florida Tennis
Gauff hogged the limelight for the first time when she ousted her idol Venus Williams in the first round of the 2019 Wimbledon, before she reached the fourth round and suffered a straight-set defeat at the hands of Magdalena Rybarikova. The World No.3 has yet to progress beyond the round of 16 at Wimbledon. This year, she crashed out in the first round.
And I would lavish them [her parents] with praise about her as a character and everything, and her work ethic. And then they’d come out like once a month. Not that much, but once a month, and they’d film things, and I’d give Corey my thoughts, and then the next year they would come out more.
Nick Saviano added
Saviano said Corey started to visit more frequently for six to eight months until she did well at the 2019 Wimbledon. He said that he worked only as an assistant coach; the primary coach was always Corey.
Gauff lifted her career’s first Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open by defeating Aryna Sabalenka. Apart from two Major singles titles, Gauff is also the winner of three WTA 1000s she won at the 2023 Cincinnati Open, 2024 China Open, and this year’s Wuhan Open.
Gauff, who also won the 2024 WTA Finals, failed to defend her title this year. She beat Jasmine Paolini but failed to go past Jessica Pegula and eventual runner-up Sabalenka in the round-robin stage.
