American WTA ace Coco Gauff‘s good defending skills are not just limited to the tennis court. The 20-year-old very well understands how to defend herself against social media trolls. In fact, Gauff knows how to hit the balls thrown by her trolls out of the park, as she showed after her title win at the China Open.

Gauff first took a dig at her critics who targeted her for not winning the big titles. After the World No. 6 clinched her second WTA 1000 title in Beijing, she shared a story on Instagram where she flexed her trophy and took jibes at her trolls.

This social media post from Gauff went viral and irked her critics. One of them hit back at the 2023 US Open champion by claiming that Gauff possesses the mentality of a five-year-old. In response, Gauff wrote a befitting comment, shutting the troll.

Honestly, kids have the best out look on life. they are so positive and creative. so I’ll take it. My goal this tournament was to play and enjoy tennis as much as I did when I was a kid because that’s when life was/is the most fun!

Other users also criticized the troll for unnecessarily taking digs at the WTA ace. Gauff, meanwhile, got a lot of support from the fans.

Coco Gauff‘s response to the troll got a lot of attention with fans lauding the American for not holding back. However, one of her fans also advised Gauff to stay away from social media. The user requested the China Open champion to enjoy her win and “get off of” Twitter.

Gauff did not dodge this advice and explained why she was active on the social media platform. The WTA ace said that she was using social media just out of boredom.

Gauff was then told by another user how much they loved her. In response, the American thanked her supporters.

Gauff became the first American woman after Serena Williams to win the China Open. The World No. 4 defeated Karolina Muchova in the final to win her second title of the 2024 season.
