Coco Gauff turned heads in her new Marvel-inspired Australian open kit designed by New Balance. Gauff, who signed the deal with New Balance as a teenager in 2018, has also been wearing its shoes inspired by basketball because of father Corey Gauff as he wanted the 20-year-old to play basketball.
On Monday (January 13) at the Rod Laver Arena, Gauff beat 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin in the first round 6-3, 6-3. After the match, Gauff talked about the problems she has been facing due to the cut-outs in her outfit.
Gauff then confessed that though she loves the design, wearing the cut-out outfit comes with various problems.

“I’m a huge Marvel fan. A lot of female super heroes have cut outs on their outfits. That’s what I wanted to do. It’s kind of a pain to get into. You have to sacrifice for fashion.” 😂

Coco Gauff reveals mindset for Australian Open
The win against compatriot Sofia Kenin was Coco Gauff‘s sixth straight win in a row this season. She skipped Brisbane International and ASB Classic and instead represented Team USA at the United Cup.
She helped the team win the title by securing victories in the five singles matches she played, including the match against World No.2 Iga Swiatek in the final. Although at the Australian Open, she has never progressed to the final, the belief that she has overcome tough opponents before can help her deal with challenging moments.
The 2023 US Open champion will next lock horns with Jodie Anna Burrage, who breezed past Leolia Jeanjean, on January 15th. They have met before once, in the first round of the 2023 Eastbourne International, which Gauff won 6-1, 6-1.
