Now that Coco Gauff has regained her form, she will be competing at the US Open as one of the heavy favorites. Before arriving in New York City, the American ace ended her title drought by defeating countrywoman Jessica Pegula in the Cincinnati Open, also winning her second title in the tournament.
And now, the 22-year-old will be bidding to win her second title at the US Open. It was in her home Slam back in 2023 that Gauff clinched her career’s first Grand Slam title by overcoming World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka.
The main draw of this year’s US Open starts on August 30. While Gauff is gearing up to win her third Major singles title of her career, her mom, Candi Gauff, urged her extended family and friends to stop asking for guest tickets.
Dear Family and friends, I apologize in advance for this blunt, but necessary statement. I know you are very excited about Coco playing in the US Open. Me too!!! Coco’s guest ticket requests have already been accounted for. Unfortunately, I will not be able to hook you up with a ticket.

Candi then highlighted that Gauff is now a grown-up woman and has her own friends whom she will be gifting the tickets to.
Please make arrangements to purchase a ticket. Side note, never ask for more than 2 tickets. Coco is grown now and she has her own friends that she is honoring tickets for the match. Thank you for your continued support.

When Gauff came across Candi’s post, she joked that she did not expect to see such a message from her mom.
I did not know she was posting this. But y’all done stressed my mom and dad out. She’s not wrong, haha. Reposting because NO, I cannot accommodate you and your plus 6 entourage 2 hours before my match.

Gauff last won a Grand Slam title at last year’s French Open by beating Sabalenka. But this year in the Majors, the only time she reached the semifinals was at Wimbledon, where she lost a thrilling match to eventual runner-up Karolina Muchova. At the US Open last year, she crashed out after making the fourth round.
Andrea Petkovic on what’s so scary about Coco Gauff
When Coco Gauff was 15 years old, Andrea Petkovic faced her in the semifinal of the 2019 Linz Open. The German, now retired, lost the match. Recently, during The Big T Podcast, Petkovic revisited the match and explained why it was simply difficult to break her, also pointing out which part of her game makes her a scary player.

She was going for first and second serves, she was serving second serves at around 95mph, and there was a double fault here or there, but I had no chance breaking her. I think I lost 6-4, 6-4, and it was a break each in the set. And she was not missing her forehand. She was not necessarily putting as much pressure on you… This is the scary part, because now it looks like her forehand is stable, and she can put pressure on that side on you.
Before the Cincinnati Open, Gauff had played two finals this season. She first lost the Miami Open to Aryna Sabalenka, then failed in her title defense in Rome, losing to Elina Svitolina.
Sabalenka’s No.1 ranking is now in danger due to her title drought. Gauff will reach her career-best ranking of No.1 if she wins the US Open and Elena Rybakina loses before reaching the semifinals.
