Three-time French Open champion Iga Swiatek proved why she is the overwhelming favorite to win her fourth clay major after a great performance. The Polish star needed only 40 minutes to beat her opponent, leaving Coco Gauff without much surprise at the end.

The World No.1 didn’t face a single break point against World No.41 Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth round of the French Open. Swiatek’s dominant display earned her the quickest win of her career. It was also the second shortest completed match at the Roland Garros just after Steffi Graf’s 32 minutes victory over Natasha Zvereva in the 1988 final.

It was a surprising outcome for Russia’s Potapova after she had lost only one set ahead of Swiatek’s tie and beaten the likes of Chinese Wang Xinyu and Viktorija Golubic. She struggled from the beginning which led Swiatek to capitalize on it. Iga Swiatek now has an 18-match winning streak at the Roland Garros.

The Pole is also on a 16-match winning streak that began at the Madrid Open. She recently beat Gauff in the semifinals of the Italian Open which was the reason the American was not surprised at her victory against Potapova in 40 minutes.

I figured that the match --usually if you're after her, you know it's probably going to be a quick match. So I figured the match would probably go an 1 hour and 15… an hour at the quickest. I definitely wasn't expecting 40 minutes. It didn't really affect much because I kind of knew. We planned for it. So, yeah, it's one of those things that you kind of plan for the fastest-case scenario.

Meanwhile, Swiatek will now face Marketa Vondrousova in the quarterfinals of the French Open. If she does go on to win the title, she will become the first woman since Justine Henin in 2007 to win the French Open singles three consecutive times.

Coco Gauff beat Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto to earn a place in the quarterfinals of the French Open

Besides that, Coco Gauff earned her third-round victory against Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto at the Roland Garros. Though she couldn’t beat Iga Swiatek’s win time, she earned a 6-1 6-2 over Cocciaretto in one hour.

The American reached the Final of the 2021 Roland Garros losing to Swiatek in the end. But, she looks in better shape as she hopes to become the first American woman since Serena Williams in 2015 to win the French Open.

But, before she hopes for that, she will have to beat Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinals as the Tunisian defeated Clara Tauson in straight sets.
