Coco Gauff became the first American teenager to win a Grand Slam since Serena Williams achieved the feat in 1999. As Gauff achieved her childhood dream, the moment was surreal for her and the effect of it lasted for a long time.
Gauff is the reigning US Open champion, as she won the title last year at the age of 19 by beating then World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka in three sets. It was her third title on the North American swing that year, previously winning the Citi Open and the Cincinnati Masters.
Recently during a commercial with Baker Tilly US, Gauff talked about her US Open victory and how she cried due to disbelief. Gauff added that as tennis players’ dream is to win a Grand Slam, they give it their all to clinch the coveted trophy.
I won the US Open and I still just didn't feel it. It took me a week to actually believe that it had happened. I found myself crying or, sometimes, not like sadness, but like disbelief. I wanted to win a Grand Slam as a teenager, so I felt that the clock was just ticking. Yeah, I just didn't expect it.Coco Gauff said

Gauff is set to lock horns with Yulia Putintseva to kick-start her campaign at the Cincinnati Open. The 20-year-old has met the Kazakhstani three times on the WTA Tour and won all the matches. Their previous encounter was at the 2023 Rome Open, which Gauff won in straight sets.
Before Cincinnati, Gauff played at the Canadian Open but got knocked out of the fourth round after Diana Shnaider defeated her easily in straight sets. Gauff also made her debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics but could only advance to the third round.
