In her post-match interview after the second round, Gauff appeared to be in a cheerful mood. The young American shared her plans for her upcoming 21st birthday and mentioned that she will celebrate it with her parents.
Gauff’s 21st birthday is still two months away. She will turn 21 on March 13. However, she hopes to achieve more success before reaching that milestone.

Gauff has been on an incredible streak since her early exit from the US Open last year. After hiring her new coach, Matt Daly, she has rediscovered the form that made her a Grand Slam champion at Flushing Meadows 15 months ago.
Coco Gauff powers into the Australian Open third round
No.3 seed Coco Gauff secured her ninth straight win with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Jodie Burrage in the Australian Open second round. The American had to rally from 5-3 down in the second set to defeat the World No.173.
Gauff started strong, building a 3-1 lead in the second set. Burrage, who is returning from wrist and ankle injuries that kept her out for six months in 2024, fought back to win four consecutive games. However, Gauff responded with her own streak of four games to seal the match.
With this win, Gauff moves on to face No.30 seed Leylah Fernandez in the third round. Fernandez, the 2021 US Open finalist, and Gauff recently played at the United Cup, where Gauff won 6-3, 6-2. Fernandez earned her place in the third round after a tough 2-hour, 40-minute match against Cristina Bucsa. She hit 30 winners to secure a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 comeback victory.
