Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu were supposed to have their first singles match in WWE at Saturday Night’s Main Event last night. But it just never got underway. In fact, Rhodes got blindsided by ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ while making his entrance.

Fatu started throwing down on the ‘QB1’ even before the latter could take his wrestling robe off. They brawled all over the arena: then be it among the sea of fans at the Bell Centre or in the backstage area. Rhodes and Fatu showed no mercy on security guards whenever they tried intervening, and a number of them bore the brunt of these ticked-off WWE wrestlers.

At one point, as they were duking it out atop an elevated platform, out of nowhere, Drew McIntyre showed up.

The Scot sent Fatu through a table and powerbombed Rhodes through one as well. The Undisputed WWE Champion stood tall to bring an end to that opening stretch of chaos at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The majority of the fans supported the route WWE took with Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu by not allowing them to compete in a formal match, as none could have afforded to lose.

‘The Samoan Werewolf’ is still upset about McIntyre, whom Fatu firmly believes was the one who kicked his teeth down his throat in a backstage ambush on SmackDown in October 2025. Though the ‘Chosen One’ has repeatedly denied having done so, Fatu doesn’t buy it. The latter had an intense back-and-forth promo exchange with ‘The American Nightmare’ on SmackDown before SNME.

The former enforcer to Solo Sikoa took offense to ‘QB1’ bringing up Fatu’s arrests as a teenager. Rhodes outright blamed the 33-year-old for being the reason why the ex-AEW EVP lost the WWE title to McIntyre in that Three Stages of Hell match.

It does seem like the company is trying to tie up these men in a three-way feud. With another Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes singles match being an overkill to do at WrestleMania 42, having Jacob Fatu in the mix as well would definitely cause more unpredictability and chaos around the top prize for men on the blue brand.

AJ Styles wrestled his best WWE match with Shinsuke Nakamura at SNME

Another beautiful wrestling chapter that closed at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Montreal was the long-standing rivalry of AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura. ‘The Phenomenal One’ wore a special mask and those trunks that he initially planned on wearing against Gunther at the Royal Rumble. Nakamura, on the other hand, brought back his classic NXT look to take on his great rival, just like the good old days.

An iconic callback to their match included the gesture of Styles doing the shooting point at Shin, just like AJ did at Wrestle Kingdom 10 in 2016 in their first one-on-one match. Back then, ‘The King of Strong Style’ blew it off. This time, however, the Kyoto-born wrestler took the bullet to his heart in a touching gesture. Speaking of their in-ring display, both men brought their A-game to the fore.

It was already obvious that Styles had reserves of gas left in his tank, but even Nakamura, whom many had bashed for being washed, wrestled like some rent was due. Even though ‘The Face That Runs the Place’ won after clocking Shin with the Phenomenal Forearm and the Styles Clash, Nakamura gave his all before getting his shoulders pinned to the mat.

Afterwards, AJ and Shin bumped their fists and hugged it out to display their mutual respect for each other. A few hours ago, Nakamura posted the note he wrote a day before wrestling ‘Mr. TNA’ at SNME. It confirmed that Styles will indeed retire from WWE at next weekend’s Royal Rumble PLE, which would be a decade from his debut in the company. Has Shin spoiled that Styles is going to lose to Gunther in that career-threatening match? It does seem that way.
