Tommy Dreamer reflects on Jey Uso’s run as a singles star in WWE

Jey Uso embarked on a singles run in WWE in September 2023. He made his way to Monday Night Raw to kick off a new chapter in his career. Not only did he touch the epitome of stardom, but he even became an Intercontinental Champion as a singles superstar. Recently, ECW legend Tommy Dreamer reflected on this singles run of ‘Main Event’ Jey that ascended him to the top.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Dreamer reflected on WWE’s decision to push Jey Uso as a singles star, calling it a risky move. Jey had always excelled as a tag team wrestler alongside his brother, Jimmy Uso. However, his unexpected rise in popularity among fans has propelled him to new heights, proving his ability to thrive in a singles run in WWE.

We know he’s entertaining. We know he’s a great worker. We’ve grew up watching the Usos. We watched Jey rise up on his own and become ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso. And his promo [against GUNTHER on Raw] afterwards is, like, cool, because at the end of the day, who’s he got? He’s got himself.

Furthermore, the ECW legend expressed hope for a brighter future for Uso in WWE, stating there is no turning back now. Dreamer also endorsed the idea of a future World Title run for Jey Uso, provided he can maintain his current momentum. With such high praise from a wrestling legend, only time will tell how Uso’s journey in WWE unfolds from here.
