There is no doubt that Cody Rhodes will go down as one of the most famous and significant professional wrestlers to enter the squared circle. Furthermore, it is no secret that he is beloved by the audience and is the favorite wrestler of many fans. However, it is highly interesting to see which wrestlers The American Nightmare likes more than others.
While speaking to BBC Newsround, Rhodes was asked about his five favorite WWE wrestlers. The 39-year-old named John Cena, Hulk Hogan, his father Dusty Rhodes, and Sting on his list. He split the last spot between Roman Reigns and The Rock. This was very surprising, as Rhodes has not had the best relationship with the two Samoans.
Unsurprisingly, the SmackDown superstar’s list contained the names of many wrestlers who were the top babyfaces of their company at the time. They often held the company’s biggest prize around their waist and were like a mascot for that company. Rhodes is currently playing that same role for WWE. Given his hesitation to turn heel during his time in AEW, it is clear that this is what he enjoys doing.
It was also not surprising to see Cena on top of the list. It is clear that the WWE Undisputed Champion idolizes him a lot and follows in his footsteps in many aspects. Apart from being a charismatic babyface and the face of the company, he often goes above and beyond for his young fans, resulting in various wholesome moments.

As expected, this list sparked plenty of social media debate. Wrestling is a unique experience for each viewer, so these various wrestlers mean different things to different people. Hence, people disagreeing with Cody Rhodes was all but natural.
Firstly, fans were surprised by the absence of women on this list. Unfortunately, when Rhodes watched the sport while growing up, women’s wrestling received little attention. Thus, there were no prominent female names in the industry. Several fans were also upset that he included Hulk Hogan on this list after his recent controversial remarks.
Others could not believe that several prominent names were omitted from this list, such as ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin or Ric Flair. Some netizens joked that Rhodes not putting Randy Orton on this list is the reason that he is eventually going to turn heel against him.
