A tale as old as time in wrestling is that the top guys on-screen are usually the leaders behind-the-scenes. Over the years, the likes of The Undertaker, John Cena, and Roman Reigns have been stars the younger generation looks up to. It is no different in today’s era, as revealed by current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes

Speaking with Jazzy’s World TV, Rhodes disclosed that Bayley is the current locker room leader in WWE. On the male side of things, Rhodes mentioned his mentor, Randy Orton‘s name. The American Nightmare lauded Bayley and Orton for being energetic and taking care of the rest of the roster. In fact, Rhodes labeled the former world champions as captains, who step up whenever anything needs to be done.

Like if you got a captain, you know, the C on the jersey, it’s probably her and Randy Orton in terms of you need something done, ‘Hey, such and such doesn’t need to be late anymore. Hey, we need energy for this show.’ She’s the locker room leader, and she should be.

Bayley has been with WWE for over a decade. At the age of 35, she has already established herself as a future Hall of Famer. Previously, the grand slam champion has not only cheered for underutilized stars but has also vouched for them to the higher-ups. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that several wrestlers, including Cody Rhodes, view The Role Model as a veteran backstage.

As for Orton, The Viper is currently the most experienced active wrestler on the roster. Similar to Bayley, many wrestlers from the current crop of talent seek advice from Orton behind the scenes. Considering his stance on not retiring from wrestling anytime soon, he will remain a locker room leader for the foreseeable future.

Bayley could make history at upcoming WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Speaking of Bayley, she is currently competing in the ongoing Women’s United States Title tournament. So far, three first-round matches have taken place, with Bayley advancing in the first bout. The Role Model got the better of B-Fab and Candice LeRae in a triple-threat battle a few weeks ago.

As such, she is set to face Chelsea Green in the semifinals of the tournament, presumably on next week’s SmackDown. The inaugural champion will be determined at next week’s Saturday Night’s Main Event NBC special.

Given her experience and veteran skills, Bayley is undoubtedly the favorite to win the championship, which would add to her already-stacked resume in WWE. However, she will face tough competition from the likes of Michin, Naomi, and Tiffany Stratton, who are still alive in the tournament.
