(Video) Cody Rhodes Makes a Stunning Return at Saturday Night’s Main Event; Issues a Massive Challenge for Money in the Bank 2025
Cody Rhodes is back to reclaim his lost territory. He emerged in the closing moments of Saturday Night's Main Event to take out John Cena.

Although it took him over a month, Cody Rhodes is finally back in WWE. Having last been seen at WrestleMania 41, where he unjustly lost his Undisputed WWE title to John Cena, The Prodigal Son made his epic return at Saturday Night’s Main Event. It just so happened after Cena crashed the ongoing world heavyweight title match between Jey Uso and Logan Paul.
Uso hit a frog splash on Paul, and it seemed like The Maverick was done for. The Yeet Master went for the cover, and the referee couldn’t count beyond two as he was pulled out of the ring by Mr. Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect. Cena got inside and started hammering down on Uso. However, it didn’t take long for Rhodes’ music to hit, which was followed by a thunderous pop.
The Quarterback of WWE made a beeline for the Peacemaker star and flattened him with a Cross Rhodes. Paul was lurking in the back and was about to sucker punch the ex-AEW EVP with brass knuckles on, but Rhodes ducked underneath, and the social media icon was struck by a spear by Uso in return.

Shortly after that, The American Nightmare challenged both Paul and Cena to a tag team match at Money in the Bank on June 7. At the PLE, Uso would join forces with Rhodes. The two are former tag team champions, a feat they achieved back in 2023 at the Fastlane PLE by ousting Damian Priest and Finn Balor.
Cody Rhodes breaks silence after return while aiming at John Cena
Shortly after taking the Tampa crowd at Saturday Night’s Main Event by storm, Cody Rhodes took to X and made his intentions clear. He wrote, “You’ve ruined enough… See you both at #MITB.” The American Nightmare is referring to John Cena’s claim of ruining wrestling for everyone, which he reaffirmed during a backstage interaction with Jey Uso.

The Cenation Leader was quickly reminded by Uso of their previous meeting at the Royal Rumble, where the former Bloodline member eliminated Cena to win the entire thing. The Franchise Player retorted by planting a seed of doubt within the 39-year-old, saying how satisfying it’d be for him when he retires with the Undisputed WWE title.

At the same time, the world heavyweight title, currently in Uso’s grasp, take, for instance, gets taken away by a YouTuber like Logan Paul. Cena said that’s when he’ll get the validation of ruining wrestling. However, as it turned out, The Yeet Master is still holding on to that title belt.

In fact, if one looks at it, Cena was ultimately the one who disrupted Uso vs. Paul and made it end in a no contest. Nonetheless, with Money in the Bank not that far away, all the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place. As of a few days ago, Travis Scott was also pitched to join the likes of Cena and Paul against Rhodes and The Usos.
What outcome did John Cena’s match have at Saturday Night’s Main Event?
John Cena also had a non-title match against R-Truth at Saturday Night’s Main Event. It was simmering for weeks. Last night, Truth came out to Cena’s entrance wearing jorts and a custom-made tee, akin to Cena’s. While no one expected the 53-year-old vet to beat Cena, the real-life Ron Killings did put up a fight.

In the closing moments of the matchup, The Franchise Player went outside and brought the Undisputed WWE title with him to end Truth once and for all. However, Cena hesitated about making the move and eventually decided to hand the belt over to the referee, who just turned his back for a second; and the damage was done.
The Prototype hit a low blow on Truth, which he disguised as a handshake. Cena planted the former Judgment Day member with an Attitude Adjustment for the win. After the match, the Last Real Champion ultimately cracked Truth’s skull with a title shot. And just like that, the Ricky Stanicky actor walked off.
