WWE was at The Garden for Raw this week and it had to pull out all the stops. As a result, the show kicked off with the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, which was his first appearance on the red brand since last November. Rhodes hadn’t even gotten a word in when he got interrupted by Stephanie McMahon. That was quite the way to begin the proceedings.

McMahon’s arrival generated a huge pop from the almost 19k-strong house at Madison Square Garden. After she got into the ring, Rhodes said he was surprised to see her there. ‘Steph’, however, leveraged her McMahon surname to tell Cody why he shouldn’t be surprised to see her in a WWE ring.

The latter eventually broke it to Rhodes that she came out to talk about his WrestleMania match with Randy Orton but that Rhodes wouldn’t like what she had to say about it.

‘Steph’ began by asserting how Rhodes, Orton, and even she are multi-generation talents in this business, and they’ve all taken different paths to get to the top. McMahon gave credit to Rhodes for sticking to his values and him believing his gut of bringing out the best from his opponents, and for the most part he did, said Stephanie. However, the ‘Billion Dollar Princess’ stated that Rhodes wouldn’t be able to do so against the current version of Orton—which is diabolical.

Stephanie McMahon told ‘The American Nightmare’ that he didn’t need to be like that but at least had to think the same way. She then brought up Cody’s heavenly father, Dusty Rhodes, as to how adept he was in making such adjustments in his heyday.

But ‘Steph’ wasn’t able to see any of that in his son. ‘The QB1’ retorted by saying he knew that he was dealing with a man who has done some vile and violent things in the past that couldn’t be shown today.

Rhodes also subtly mentioned that some of the said stuff Orton pulled off involved McMahon herself. ‘The Prodigal Son’ then asserted that he outgrew the entire student and teacher dynamic with ‘The Viper’ a long time ago.

Rhodes appeared to have been slightly ruffled with McMahon outright mentioning his dad, so he did the same to her. The WWE Champion said he might not be anything like his father, but ‘Steph’ wasn’t anything like hers either, which was a reference to Vince McMahon.

The crowd on hand at Raw lit up the moment Rhodes said that, for which he got slapped in the face by the daughter of Mr. McMahon. She tried telling Rhodes that she came out to confront him because she cared about him. The co-founder of Connor’s Cure stressed that Randy Orton has totally lost it with the voices in his head taking over of late.

She also brought up how the 14-time world champion’s been listening to someone else as well, whom Orton has been on calls with in recent weeks. At last, McMahon said that unless Rhodes could think like Orton, he would lose the WWE title at WrestleMania 42. ‘Steph’ was done talking, and she proceeded to exit the ring but got pulled back by Rhodes, who thanked the ex-chair of WWE for the pep talk on Raw.

Gunther stuns Seth Rollins in a sneak attack on WWE Raw

After having been interrupted by Raw GM Adam Pearce a couple of times, with the on-screen authority figure asking Paul Heyman whether he checked his emails or not, ‘The Wiseman’ went out to the ring with a live mic in his hand. Heyman dished out some disparaging adjectives for Pearce, and the latter came out to confront the New Yorker again.

The general manager finally informed Heyman that the Boston Police Department had dropped all the charges against Seth Rollins after arresting him last week. Moreover, Pearce announced that Rollins was medically cleared to compete. The Visionary’s music hit, and the MSG crowd went bonkers. Heyman knew that he was done for. Rollins entered the ring from behind and cracked a steel chair across the back of ‘The Oracle’.

Rollins laid the chair down and set Heyman up to stomp his head onto it. Just as ‘The Architect’ went in the corner to execute the stomp, he got pulled out by Gunther. ‘The Ring General’ locked the 6-time world champion into a sleeper hold and kept increasing the pressure.

The erstwhile Walter ultimately choked Rollins out and pointed at the WrestleMania sign to basically imply that he wanted the former Vision leader at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

It was made official by Adam Pearce in a backstage interview with Jackie Redmond. There were heavy rumors of Bron Breakker returning to take on his former mentor at WrestleMania. In fact, he was even backstage at Raw, but it seems like Breakker didn’t get the medical clearance to return just yet. It implies that ‘The Unpredictable Badass’ won’t compete at the grandest stage this year.
