Cody Rhodes has a lot on his plate right now. Apart from the Drew McIntyre problem that’s been troubling him since August, ‘The American Nightmare’ will now have to tackle Oba Femi first. Because next weekend in the nation’s capital, Rhodes will go one-on-one to honor John Cena‘s vision of showcasing the best that NXT has to offer on the same night as his final WWE match.
This past Saturday at Deadline, Femi reclaimed the NXT title from Ricky Saints. The former AEW star had previously shocked ‘The Ruler’ at No Mercy to hold the top prize on NXT, and he held on to it for 70 days. The Nigerian wrestler came prepared this time around and delivered a title-winning performance to kick off Deadline. Femi also issued a warning for Rhodes afterwards.
"The biggest factor is change."

The 27-year-old affirmed that change is the biggest factor, and it came knocking down at the door of Saints. Getting archaic for a moment, Femi noted that when change met the dinosaurs, it sent a meteor. ‘The Destroyer’ continued saying that now when change has arrived to the main roster asking for Cody Rhodes, it has sent him.
While a big chunk of the fans was expecting Saints to retain against Femi so that he could face Rhodes in a WWE ring after having previously faced off in AEW, it’s just not in the cards at the moment. Everyone’s eyes are now peeled on what to expect out of this mouthwatering prospect, viz., Femi vs. Rhodes, at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
WWE has a golden opportunity up its sleeve to introduce ‘The Ruler’ to the main roster audience like a beast seen never before. Femi is pegged as a future multi-time world champion, so it’s pivotal to handle what’s basically his main roster debut outing with utmost care. A win over the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion would put even more eyeballs on Femi than he’s ever had.
Brandi Rhodes trolls Drew McIntyre after his Cody Rhodes brawl
As broached in the beginning, Cody Rhodes’ feud with Drew McIntyre is continuing. ‘The Prodigal Son’ launched a sneak attack on the Scot inside his car in a parking lot brawl to kick off SmackDown last Friday. Rhodes’ wife, Brandi, has finally reacted to it. She quoted a reply to WWE’s post of the said brawl and quipped that her husband pulled McIntyre’s hair so hard that it almost snatched a patch from “that boy.”

It must be so cathartic for Brandi, as Cody Rhodes assaulted ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ to avenge what the latter did a few weeks ago. McIntyre invaded The American Nightmare’s tour bus in an egregious breach of Rhodes’ personal space. ‘The Chosen One’ battered the former AEW EVP and left him lying upside down at the doorstep of his bus.
According to sources, WWE and USA Network have decided to move SmackDown back to three hours, beginning with the January 2nd show from Buffalo, NY.

While they didn’t get to do much inside WarGames at Survivor Series, they’re inevitably going to wrestle again. With how personal this rivalry has gotten, it appears like Rhodes and McIntyre are headed toward a stipulated contest, which could happen on the first SmackDown of 2026. If the reports are to be believed, the blue brand will revert back to being a three-hour show for the first half of the year.
Considering that actually ends up being the case, WWE will definitely want to usher in the new year with a high-stakes main event. A world title match with a stipulation sounds just about right. Raw has already secured its main event with CM Punk slated to defend the World Heavyweight title against Bron Breakker on January 5.
