Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins have had a fascinating relationship in WWE. They were rivals during the early 2010s before The American Nightmare left the company. After his return, they became the greatest of rivals and had a trilogy throughout the summer of 2022. In early 2024, they teamed up to take down Roman Reigns, The Rock, and the autocratic Bloodline. The former AEW EVP recently talked about their relationship when the cameras were not rolling.

Speaking on The Pivot Podcast, Cody Rhodes revealed that he always felt like he was chasing the hot young act, namely The Shield. Thus, Rollins was someone he was not friends with at all during the early 2010s. The faction was incredible and superseded everybody. Although they deserved the hype they were getting, the 39-year-old was sour as he was constantly chasing them.

The WWE Undisputed Champion said that when one wrestles with a completely torn pec inside of a dangerous setting like Hell in a Cell, one leaves with a lot of love for them no matter what. He claimed not to like Seth Rollins to this day. However, there was definitely respect between the two, as made evident by an anecdote he told during the interview.

The former AEW EVP’s bus at WrestleMania caught fire outside Lincoln Financial. There was even a huge fireball on top of the bus, and he was certain it was going to burn down. The first bus that he ran to was Rollins’. He recalled watching several men trying to put out the fire through the windows like a little kid. .

Other than the former World Heavyweight Champion, Rhodes also talked about his backstage relationships with several other members of the WWE roster. He mentioned not getting along with The Rock due to him inserting himself into the main event of WrestleMania XL. Furthermore, he also talked about his bond with another former member of The Shield, Roman Reigns.

The WWE Undisputed Champion thought that Reigns and himself made for great rivals. He didn’t particularly dislike The Tribal Chief, who did not dislike him back. When they saw themselves on posters, they understood what the hype was about. He asserted that there was a constant back-and-forth between the two when setting the benchmark.

Rhodes truly thought that he created magic with Roman Reigns. Although he was not a big believer in such things, he thought that there was an element of destiny and fate that pitted them against each other.
