The latest episode of SmackDown was the first-ever three-hour edition of the show. This special episode was main evented by a 6-man tag team match between the two clans of the Samoan faction. The Usos teamed up with Sami Zayn to take on Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu. This bout also featured a special post-show appearance from Cody Rhodes after the bout ended.
Sikoa’s team won the match after pinning Jey Uso, but the action continued even after the cameras had stopped rolling. The New Bloodline continued to beat up the OG Bloodline and tossed them into the ring. This promoted Rhodes to rush out to the ring with a steel chair in his hand. He hit Fatu with a chair to send him out of the ring, and the four babyfaces surrounded Tonga.
The former NJPW star was hit with double super kicks by the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions, which sent him into the corner to be the victim of a Helluva Kick by Sami Zayn. Finally, the American Nightmare caught him from the back and put him down with a Cross Rhodes.

Rhodes coming out to save his friends even after having a rough night on SmackDown is a true testament to his friendship. The 39-year-old was ambushed by Kevin Owens yet again, and WWE officials had to separate these two superstars. The rivals are now set to compete at the Royal Rumble in a Ladder match for the WWE Undisputed Championship.
Update on “American Nightmare” lawsuit against Cody Rhodes and WWE
In September 2024, musician Wesley Eisold filed a lawsuit against Cody Rhodes, WWE, and the company’s merchandise partner, Fanatics. He accused these three parties of trademark infringement, breach of contract, and intentional interference with contractual relations. The punk rock musician is the lead singer and co-founder of the band ‘American Nightmare’. Thus, he has held the trademark for this name since 2016.
According to a report by PWInsider, the defendants are supposed to respond by 1/17 after successfully asking the United States District Court, Central District of California, for an extension of time to respond. Eisold is seeking damages in the amount of $900,000. Furthermore, he demands an injunction against the defendants to prevent further sales that violate the trademark.
Cody Rhodes was given permission by Eisold to use the nickname as long as his merchandise prominently featured Rhodes’ name or wrestling-related injury. However, the 45-year-old believed that this agreement had been violated and filed a lawsuit regarding the matter.
