Rhodes had quite a busy night on the latest episode of Raw. He finally went toe-to-toe with John Cena, the man who turned on him at Elimination Chamber. The two superstars had a highly compelling segment, which has tremendously boosted the hype for their upcoming bout at WrestleMania 41.
Cody Rhodes’ mom Michelle Runnels says John Cena should be ashamed of his actions
John Cena turning heel at the Elimination Chamber was a huge shock to the WWE Universe. Seeing Cody Rhodes battered was a sight that sent chills down everyoneβs spine, especially his family. His wife, Brandi Rhodes, has already reacted to the Hollywood superstarβs actions in Toronto. Now, his mother has weighed in with her own opinion.

In an interview with WrestleBinge, Michelle Runnels said that she never would have expected something like that to happen. John Cena had always been a close friend to Rhodes and even knew his father, Dusty Rhodes. She said that the 16x World Champion should be ashamed of his actions. He has had a beautiful career up until now, but he has now become despicable.
I would say, βJohn, you should be ashamed of yourself. You had a beautiful career. Everybody loved you and and now youβre just an a**hole.

Michelle Runnels has played a part in WWE storylines multiple times over the past year. She was recurringly mentioned by The Rock during the buildup to WrestleMania 40 as βMama Rhodes.β Furthermore, she was present at ringside for her sonβs βI Quitβ match against AJ Styles at Clash at the Castle 2024.
Vince Russo believes John Cena beating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 is guaranteed
Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena is one of the most hyped matchups heading into WrestleMania 41, especially after their latest segment on Raw. It is almost inevitably going to main event night 2 of the show. However, the result of the match might not be so unpredictable, according to Vince Russo.

Speaking on his podcast, Writing with Russo, the former WWE writer said that Rhodes was definitely not going to win at WrestleMania. He said that Cenaβs heel turn had been building up for over 22 years now. The American Nightmare going over and retaining his championship would be a waste of everybodyβs time.
Heβs (Cody Rhodes) not gonna win at WrestleMania. Thereβs no way. Why are we gonna waste our time? Heβs not gonna win. You are gonna waste 22 years by Cody going over?

Russo went on to predict Rhodesβ match for WrestleMania 42 in New Orleans as well. He believed that 2026 would finally be the year where the American Nightmare would be pitted against The Rock. He believed that Cena would lose the title later this year and turn babyface again before his final match. This would allow the former AEW EVP to head into the Showcase of the Immortals with the title against the Final Boss next year.
