Cody Rhodes Cynical of Oba Femi’s Chances Against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42
Cody Rhodes has underscored what Oba Femi has to gain from his Brock Lesnar clash at WrestleMania.

Oba Femi has been a major thorn in Brock Lesnar‘s side since ‘The Ruler’ accepted The Beast’s WrestleMania 42 open challenge last month. The former NXT Champion rose to the task once Seth Rollins took a backseat to Lesnar. Femi stepped in the ring and dropped the 10-time world champion with Fall from Grace to step over his chest and point at the WrestleMania sign.
The Nigerian wrestler humiliated Lesnar the following week on Raw by clotheslining him over the top rope. It forced Paul Heyman to keep his client at bay from the 27-year-old. Last Monday, the former UFC ace was in his wrestling attire to take the bull by the horns. Femi strutted down the aisle only to run through several security guards that were deployed by Raw GM Adam Pearce.
Femi even pushed Pearce to the ground to make a beeline for his WrestleMania opponent in the ring. But Triple H intervened to keep their brawl from happening. The WWE CCO received heavy boos from the MSG crowd for stepping in and keeping those behemoths from tearing each other apart. After three weeks of intense faceoffs between Lesnar and Femi, what does Cody Rhodes think of it?
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast, the Undisputed WWE Champion debated whether it’s too much too soon for Oba Femi. And that’s what makes his clash with Lesnar even more intriguing. Because if it were too early for the ‘Bringer of War’, he would be tamed by ‘The Beast Incarnate’, which the latter has done to several towering names in the business.

But the flip side of the story is that Femi has a major opportunity to turn this into his breakout moment. Rhodes also stated that going toe to toe with someone like Lesnar is an incredibly difficult mountain to climb. However, Rhodes wondered that if the stars do align for Femi at WrestleMania and he does put Lesnar away in his debut at that level, ‘The Ruler’ might just catapult himself into a whole other stratosphere.
If it is too much too soon, it’s suplex city, it’s F5, and it’s a dominant, never-been-this-good Brock Lesnar all over again, which is an incredibly difficult mountain for anybody to climb. And if all the stars align and it’s Oba’s night, then you have a new star on the stage at a time when it’s talked about a lot who is on top.

Femi would then be at the forefront of the conversation that’s picked up of late regarding who will supplant the existing main-event players in WWE. ‘The American Nightmare’ then pointed at his championship belt and stressed that it isn’t handed out to anyone in this business.
He added that he isn’t ready to budge about his current standing in WWE, and neither does he believe CM Punk is. However, given he has already gotten a little taste of what names like Oba Femi and Trick Williams are capable of in that ring, they’re making for a healthy power struggle to determine how the upper echelon of WWE stars is going to look in the years to come.
Could Brock Lesnar put an end to his Oba Femi misery on this week’s Raw?
On tonight’s Raw in Houston, it’ll mark the fourth straight week when Adam Pearce will pit Brock Lesnar in the same place at the same time with Oba Femi. The general manager is wise enough to expect nothing less than a pull-apart brawl-like situation between the WrestleMania-bound belligerents once again this week. Triple H was able to nip it in the bud last Monday, but it’s unlikely to happen two weeks in a row.

Moreover, it’s quite alarming from the build’s perspective that Lesnar hasn’t been able to inflict any kind of damage on ‘The Ruler’ thus far. Femi has made Lesnar chase his own shadow with how dominant he’s been. It might be high time for ‘The Beast’ to get his lick back on ‘The Bringer of War’ with just under a couple of weeks remaining until WrestleMania.
This match has the potential to be talked about for the years to come and could even set a new precedent for the so-called monster vs. monster type of clashes in WWE. There’s also some fan noise clamoring for it to be the main event of either night of Mania, but it’s unlikely to happen.
