Rick Ware Racing driver Cody Ware is set to start his first NASCAR Cup Series race in 2024. Since last April, Ware has been through a turbulent journey, with the allegations of domestic violence from his ex-girlfriend. Following this, NASCAR banned the driver until there was a verdict from the court of law.

The American went through a series of trials before the charges were dropped, and NASCAR reinstated him in December. Since then, the driver has yet to make an appearance in a Cup Series race. Now, finally, it has been announced that Cody Ware will make his first Cup appearance of 2024 at Talladega replacing current driver Kaz Grala.

Cody Ware returns to the NASCAR Cup Series for the first time in 2024, driving the No. 15 for @RickWareRacing. Barring a last-minute deal, @KazGrala will miss his first event of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series campaign.

The decision may be a little painful for Grala considering the 25-year-old has been performing at a pretty good level throughout the last few months. This will be Ware’s first race back in NASCAR since his suspension last year, he will definitely be fully fired up for the race.

Cody Ware shares an insight into sharing car with Kaz Grala

Ever since Cody Ware was reinstated by NASCAR last December it was only a matter of time before the driver made his comeback into the Cup Series. Rick Ware Racing is owned by his family, and this is just how things work. Following this, Ware highlighted his thoughts on sharing the No. 15 car with Gala.

Not set in stone, but tentatively plans are to be back in the Cup car in April. We’re dotting our I’s and crossing out T’s there, with sponsorships and getting everything lined up. After my suspension last year, I lost the majority of my sponsorships, so we’re trying to build everything back up after that.

The driver seemed to be in good spirits about his comeback and also added how he’s more motivated than ever to maximize his team’s result. Only time will tell how the driver will perform during the race at Talladega.
