An intense matchup between the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons took a somber turn during the fourth quarter when Pistons guard Jaden Ivey suffered a devastating leg injury. The incident left Magic guard Cole Anthony looking distraught after inadvertently causing the injury during a scramble for a loose ball.
The injury occurred as Ivey and Anthony dove for the ball near midcourt. In the chaotic moment, Ivey’s left leg became trapped underneath Anthony, resulting in a severe and immediate reaction from the Pistons guard.
Writhing in pain on the floor, Ivey clutched his leg while trainers quickly stabilized it. Anthony stood frozen on the court, visibly upset and distressed, as medical staff rushed to assist.
Jaden Ivey, who had been having one of his best performances of the season, was unable to walk off the court. Before the injury, Ivey had delivered an impressive 22-point performance, shooting a stellar 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Cole Anthony’s visible distress has gained attention soon, with video clips of the moment going viral online. While Anthony played no malicious role in the incident, the unintentional nature of the injury appeared to weigh heavily on him. Anthony later continued to play, contributing 8 points. The Magic ultimately fell to the Pistons, 105-96, in a game marked by the somber tone set after Ivey’s injury.
Pistons’ season in jeopardy after Jaden Ivey’s injury
The Pistons have yet to release an official diagnosis of Jaden Ivey’s condition, but early indications suggest a lengthy recovery may be necessary.
