Gareth Southgate did not hand a single start to Chelsea’s star man Cole Palmer at UEFA Euro 2024. The 22-year-old however, was one of the most exciting and engaging players on the pitch whenever he was given a cameo by the manager. The youngster assisted in the semi-final while also scoring a crucial goal against Spain in the final.
Even though England were beaten by Spain on the night, Palmer’s brilliant display turned heads. As the international break resumes once again, the English FA honored Palmer as the England Men’s Player of the Year.
Palmer has been a very important player for both club and country, although his importance is exemplified more at Stamford Bridge. Players like Jude Bellingham, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Harry Kane were all potential winners, although the Chelsea man took home the award.
Following the announcement, fans engaged in debates on social media as they argued who actually deserved the same. England take on Greece and Finland in the international break.

After collecting several awards last season, Cole Palmer added the England Men’s Player of the Year award to his cabinet.
