The GOAT debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo has been alive on social media for ages. Recently, Chelsea star and Enzo Maresca‘s main man Cole Palmer spoke to the press as he picked his favorite between the Argentine and the Portuguese. Palmer himself is on his way to becoming one of the best players in the Premier League, that too at the age of just 22.
Palmer previously made headlines for his ‘strange’ behavior during a brawl between Chelsea and Nottingham Forest a week ago. Fans also compared the player’s awkwardness on the pitch to that of Lionel Messi‘s. More recently, Palmer admitted that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of the Argentine and emulated him in his childhood.
Cole Palmer has been in amazing form this season, having scored 6 goals and set up another five in seven Premier League appearances. As things stand, Chelsea are 4th in the Premier League and face Liverpool after play resumes following the international break.
Lionel Messi coolly plays off angry Venezuelan player in heated moment
Lionel Messi returned to the pitch for Argentina as the reigning Copa America champions took on Venezuela in enemy territory. The forward marked his first game for the national team after picking up a serious ankle injury in the Copa America final against Colombia. After a frustrating evening, it appeared that the subpar pitch conditions and rainy atmosphere got to the No.10.
After failing to pick up a goal or assist in a 1-1 draw, Messi was seen getting into an argument with Yeferson Soteldo. Even though the latter appeared to be visibly frustrated, the Argentine seemingly played it off with an unbothered stance. While many fans praised the captain for not engaging in an altercation, others criticized him for being ‘arrogant’ and haughty.
Messi managed to take a total of two shots throughout the game and was fouled twice in the 90 minutes he played. Argentina claimed a point thanks to an early goal from Nicolas Otamendi. Venezuela pulled one back from a header courtesy of striker Salomon Rondon. As things stand, Argentina lead the World Cup qualification table with 19 points from nine games.
