Cole Palmer has been nothing short of sensational in the previous season. From ‘carrying’ Chelsea on his back to making things tick for The Three Lions at the Euros, the 22-year-old has been a busy man. The player has now returned to Stamford Bridge after spending some much-needed time off following the Euros.

Besides his unreal ability on the football pitch, Palmer is also widely known for his iconic ‘cold’ celebration. Even though many believe that the Englishman ‘introduced’ the same, NBA star Trae Young feels otherwise. Recently, fans on social media got into a heated debate as the Atlanta Hawks man responded to claims that he ‘stole’ the celebration from the Chelsea man.

He accused me of stealing? I never heard, respectfully. I kind of ran with it (the celebration). I didn't get it from nobody.
Trae Young said in a podcast

Palmer recently signed a two-year extension with Chelsea while Young is currently in the third year of his five-year long contract with the Atlanta Hawks.

Fans react to Trae Young’s response that Cole Palmer accused him of stealing his celebration

As Football X got hold of the recent situation between Cole Palmer and Trae Young, fans engaged in raging debates. A football fan claimed that NBA players always think that they’re more popular than footballers. Another added that even though Young had started doing the celebration around 2019, it only became popular when Palmer started doing it.

Another said that Young was set up to make this comment and that Palmer never accused him of anything. NBA fans laughed at Chelsea supporters after coming to know that Young doesn’t even know who their best player is. A few even dug up clips of Didier Drogba doing the same in 2010. A fan argued that Olympic athletes doing Palmer’s celebration was enough to settle the debate in his favor.

After signing a two-year extension, Palmer is now contractually obliged to play for the club until 2033. Palmer has a lot to fix at Chelsea after Enzo Maresca has failed to give convincing results in pre-season. The Blues take on Manchester City in their first game of the season at Stamford Bridge before games against Wolves and Crystal Palace. Maresca has also made it clear that Palmer will be the dedicated penalty taker for the season.
