Colin Cowherd Bizarrely Claims Josh Allen Has Surpassed Patrick Mahomes in the Last 2 Years
Josh Allen and the Bills stand a great chance of winning not just the AFC but also the Super Bowl as Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are no longer in the running for playoff qualification.

Colin Cowherd made a bold proclamation in a recent segment of FS1’s The Herd about Josh Allen. Cowherd believes that Allen has been the better quarterback in the last two years than Patrick Mahomes.
It’s kind of surprising that Cowherd doesn’t consider Jalen Hurts in the best quarterback conversation. Hurts, the reigning Super Bowl champion and MVP, has a résumé impressive enough to earn him a spot in the conversation.
Sure, the NFL also has players like Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Matthew Stafford, and Dak Prescott, but their postseason heroics aren’t as illustrious as Mahomes’ or Hurts’. So, how does Josh Allen fit into the narrative? For starters, he took home the NFL MVP award last year and is steadily closing in on reclaiming it in 2025.
According to the latest FanDuel predictions, the Buffalo Bills quarterback has the second-best odds to retain his best football player in the NFL accolade. Moreover, the 29-year-old has had Mahomes’ number in the regular season. He is 5-1, which includes a Week 9 victory against the Kansas City Chiefs in Buffalo.
So where does that leave Mahomes? The 30-year-old is a three-time Super Bowl champion and last year’s beaten finalist. That has to amount to something. It would have if the Chiefs were still in the hunt for the playoffs.
A team that earned a bye week by securing the top seed in 2024 is now out of the postseason race just a year later, and it’s only December. For that very reason, Colin Cowherd, with any hesitation, claimed that Mahomes isn’t even close to Allen in the last two years.
The last two years, [Patrick Mahomes] isn’t even in Josh Allen’s league. It ain’t close.

Mahomes still holds the upper hand over Allen in the playoffs. He is 4-0, including a victory in the 2024 AFC Championship game.
The Chiefs won’t be in this year’s playoffs. Furthermore, Mahomes picked up an ACL and LCL injury in the Chiefs’ latest defeat to the Chargers. He underwent surgery the following day and has begun his rehab. The Chiefs officially placed him on the injured reserve list this week and made Gardner Minshew their starting quarterback for the remainder of the season.
Josh Allen is thrilled to enter parenthood with his wife, Hailee Steinfeld
Allen is winning on and off the field. Ahead of the Bills’ high-voltage game against division rivals, the New England Patriots, his wife surprised him with some amazing news.

Instagram almost went into meltdown when Hailee Steinfeld shared a video announcing she’s expecting her first child with Allen. It was a matter of celebration not just for the two families but also for the Bills Mafia, a place where he calls home.
I consider this place my home. It’s where I’ve done a lot of growing up. And it’s a place that I’ll raise a family. It’s really cool.
Allen told Associated Press
The PDA-filled short clip quickly became a fan favorite, racking up over three million likes. Allen claimed that the video “just kind of came about,” and he felt “overjoyed” by the news of Steinfeld’s pregnancy.
His energy reflected on the gridiron a couple of days later when he contributed five touchdowns. The Pro Bowl signal caller threw 3 touchdowns and set up running back James Cook for two more on the ground as the Bills snatched their tenth win of the season.
Allen sits eighth in the league with 3,276 passing yards on 284 completions, a 70% completion rate (second only to Drake Maye), along with 25 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He’s also scored 12 rushing touchdowns in 14 games.
