Colin Cowherd bizarrely claims rookie Bo Nix, who has played only 5 games so far, is ‘better’ than 49ers Brock Purdy
Following the 49ers' Friday game, Colin Cowherd bizarrely claimed that Denver rookie Bo Nix is better than Brock Purdy.

After last season’s success, Brock Purdy’s performance has been remarkably consistent with 1,629 yards and nine touchdowns in the last five games of the 2024 season. Even though the San Francisco 49ers are standing with a 3-3 record, the quarterback’s potential is undeniable.
Colin Cowherd doesn’t seem too impressed by “Mr. Irrelevant,” especially after a few missed plays. Following the recent game against the Seattle Seahawks, the sports analyst compared the young quarterback to a dozen other prominent quarterbacks in the league including Jared Goff, Jordan Love, C.J. Stroud, Jayden Daniels, and Dak Prescott– putting them before Purdy.
His co-host Jason McIntyre then mentioned the name of the Denver Broncos’ rookie Bo Nix and asked his thoughts. Cowherd replied with an interesting take, claiming that the rookie is better than the Niners’ star— which ended up being heavily criticized.
Sports analyst Dan Orlovsky was quick to respond to Cowherd’s bizarre claim and asserted that even though he likes Nix’s performance so far, there isn’t a “single thing that he does better than Brock Purdy.” Given, that Purdy has repeatedly proven his capabilities in the absence of the star-studded 49ers’ offense, especially this season many of the players were enlisted on the injury reserve.
Dan Orlovsky raves about Brock Purdy’s elite performance
While disagreeing with Cowherd’s bizarre claim about Purdy, Orlovsky showered high praise on the third-year quarterback on Friday’s edition of NFL Live. He argued that Purdy is playing the best football of his career and entered into the category of elite Patrick Mahomes.
Purdy’s progress has been undeniable since he took over the starting position in San Francisco. With an impressive passer rating of 129.3 along with 255 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions, the signal-caller has scored a much-needed road win against Seattle and improved to a 3-3 record.
