In the past few days, the name Juan Soto has become a trending topic in MLB conversations. The New York Yankees star will enter free agency in the offseason.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, who beat Soto in the World Series, are one of the teams that are favorites to sign him. Colin Cowherd has hyped up these talks and stated that if he ever the Dodgers, he would go for this move.
Speaking on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” the 60-year-old spoke about how the Dodgers have a chance to make a dynasty in MLB. He would go on to compare Kevin Durant‘s move to the Golden State Warriors and how this move of Soto would create a unique experience for the fans.
Ironically, it was the Yankees who were known for their dynasty in MLB. The Bronx Bombers are the most successful team in MLB, with 27 World Series titles. The St. Louis Cardinals are second for the most World Series titles with 11, signaling the huge gap between the rests and the Yankees.
However, the Yanks have not enjoyed much success in recent years. The same cannot be said about the Dodgers, who claimed their second World Series crown in five years on Wednesday night. Apart from a star-studded squad, the Los Angeles-based franchise also has the highest home and road attendance.
Cowherd believes that the Dodgers have what it takes to become the very best team in MLB.
I think Major League Baseball needs a dynasty and nobody has the wherewithal and the passion and the attendance and the inertia and the momentum and already a launching pad of a franchise like the Dodgers. I would go after Soto.

Last year in the offseason, the Dodgers went all-out and signed Shohei Ohtani to a massive $700 million, 10-year deal. If the franchise does go after Soto, they might have to splash a similar number to attract the 26-year-old left fielder.
Colin Cowherd claims the Yankees were never in ‘control’ in the 2024 World Series against Dodgers
Game 5 of the 2024 World Series will likely be remembered for a while for the dramatic collapse of the Yankees. After leading 5-0, a fielding error by Aaron Judge led to more mistakes from the home team as they lost their concentration. Colin Cowherd has claimed that the team was never in ‘control‘ throughout the series.

Speaking on his show, Cowherd pointed out how the Yankees had leads in Game 1 and Game 5 when Gerrit Cole was pitching. However, the slump in offense and defense led to some stress and anxiety among the team.
You could feel the stress with the Yankees the entire series… In Games 1 and 5 with Gerrit Cole, New York had leads in later innings but it never ever felt like they were under control and it always felt like it would come crashing down.

Cowherd would further point out how the Dodgers remained ‘loose‘ in the series as they had experienced it all before. Despite Cole’s heroics in both Game 1 and Game 5, the Yankees were unable to win.
The Yankees now turn their attention towards the offseason. One of their main aims will likely be re-signing Juan Soto and bringing him back into the pinstripes. With Aaron Boone likely to return as manager for the 2025 season, only time will tell how the Yankees will line up and perform next season.
