Colin Cowherd using fake news to discuss Luka Doncic’s Mavs revenge game has fans losing it: “Can’t even bother facts checking!”
Luka Doncic and his Los Angeles Lakers will face his old team, the Dallas Mavericks at the Crypto.com Arena tomorrow.

Colin Cowherd referenced a fake news page about Dallas Mavericks ahead of Luka Doncic game
Ever since Luka Doncic moved to the Los Angeles Lakers, the focus has shifted to what the Dallas Mavericks are doing. Fans of the franchise are not happy losing their franchise cornerstone and have aired out their frustrations.
Those frustrations forced the franchise to hire additional security after GM Nico Harrison received death threats. His seat inside American Airlines Arena was moved. That was out of fear of revolting fans, and he did not come in front of fans in those games.
Then owner Patrick Dumont made it worse when he seemingly suggested that Luka Doncic was not driven enough to be a part of a team looking to win an NBA title. The result, he faced a barrage of boos when he made his way to his seat.
Mavs fans are irate, but over the past two games, that aggression has gone down a notch. But at the same time, they will see their former franchise cornerstone play against them at his new arena. Colin Cowherd brought in Rachel Nichols to talk about the game and he said.
I saw a story where they won’t let Luka jerseys in the building in Dallas.
Colin Cowherd said
This news reference had Rachel Nichols, a seasoned NBA journalist, surprised. She then corrected Cowherd that the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks is at the Crypto.com Arena.
“I saw a story where they won’t let Luka jerseys in the building in Dallas.”

Colin Cowherd got CENTEL’D. 😭😭😭 https://t.co/QQ3yDtUBDL pic.twitter.com/DyKLdcpw0Y
The reason Nichols was surprised was that she did not hear anything about this from any of her sources. What happened was that Colin Cowherd, a journalist holding nearly three decades of experience, referenced an X post he saw from the spoof account, NBA Centel.
Fans roast Colin Cowherd for Mavs news gaffe surrounding Luka Doncic
Fans watching this clip had their hands over their heads. They could not believe, the veteran analyst referred to a spoof site and did not double check the information. He went with that news bit and started the conversation around it on his show The Herd.
Fans felt it shows that journalists are speaking based on what Twitter feeds they are reading through. Instead of speaking with sources and doing their due diligence, they are resorting to short cut methods which end up embarrassing themselves. Check out examples of those comments below.

Why are we giving entire crews of people who cannot fact check 4-hour tv slots? Too many talented people dying to do this for a living to put up with this bullshit https://t.co/u16BXBHPtV

Another famed analyst, Stephen A. Smith too had a similar situation. He referenced another NBA Centel post which mentioned the assets traded in the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander trade from the Los Angeles Clippers.
The irony was that he resorted to the same fake reference a further two times. At that time, fans too had a field day trolling the 57-year-old for resorting to X news as a shortcut to avoid doing their own due diligence.
