The 2025 NFL Draft is just a couple of days away and all eyes are on the top prospects coming out of college. This year, it is not as straightforward and even though a lot of insider information has come out, fans and media are still clueless as to where the likes of Cam Ward, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders will land.

Sanders has particularly been facing a lot of heat. It all started after he skipped his workouts at the combine. Then, a supposed interview gave NFL executives the idea that he was an arrogant young man who had everything but the passion to win.

Since then, his father Deion Sanders and some media members have come to his defense. But despite all that, there are still a lot of question marks on where he would land. Most of the top teams have been rumored to be looking at other prospects as his draft stock continues to slide.

However, he is still hopeful that he will land in the best situation. Earlier today, he was speaking with Maxx Crosby on the podcast The Rush. When the Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher asked the Colorado Buffaloes QB to name his Mount Rushmore of quarterback-receiver duos, he said this at the end.

Whoever the quarterback for DK Metcalf and George Pickens. Whoever that is….

Shedeur Sanders said

He said this after listing the likes of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski on his Mount Rushmore. But this video did not go viral for that. Rather, many believe this was a hint at the possibility of the Pittsburgh Steelers selecting him in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Mike Tomlin has high praise for Shedeur Sanders

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a predicament. Both their starting quarterbacks have taken up new jobs in New York. Then, Aaron Rodgers‘ possible deal with the franchise has not yet materialized. With a barren QB room, reporters asked head coach Mike Tomlin about his meeting with Shedeur Sanders, to which he said.

To spend time with a young man, to talk ball, to get to know him as an individual, to get to see how he processes and sees the game and how he articulates his football experience. From that standpoint, it was a very normal visit and a very productive one.

Mike Tomlin said

This response was enough to kill a rumor that the Buffaloes QB did not have a ‘terrible meeting’ with the Steelers. Tomlin did not go much into detail, but if one can stitch both the prospect’s answer and that of the head coach, it is possible that they may end up drafting him.

They do have Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson in their QB room. But neither of them is a surefire franchise QB. It also does not indicate that Sanders will come in and start. The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking at all available options.

Pittsburgh Steelers want two more QBs

Omar Khan was also at the pre-draft press conference alongside Mike Tomlin. As soon as they sat down to take questions, the general manager started off by issuing a statement regarding their quarterback situation.

We go to camp with four quarterbacks. Right now, we have two on the roster. All options are on the table on how we acquire those last two.

NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks presented his latest mock draft and he has Shedeur Sanders going to the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21. More and more people believe that is the safe decision the franchise will take, considering they do not have any options other than this.

If that happens, the QB’s hint could become true. It could be the best situation considering the Steelers have a stud offensive line. That could alleviate past concerns of Sanders taking a lot of sacks. If he holds on to his promise, it could bode well for Steel City.
