The Colorado Buffaloes 2023-24 NCAA season can be compared to a hike over a mountain. They started the year off strong, winning four games straight. The entire nation got swept up in the hype over the team featuring Deion Sanders as the head coach and his son Shedeur Sanders at quarterback. As the season progressed, the Buffaloes remained stagnant. The team failed to win against the top teams in the nation and fell to the bottom of the Pac-12 rankings.

This year is poised to be Shedeur Sanders‘ final season in college and the next stop for him is the NFL. Deion Sanders understands that his son and the Buffaloes ought to make a mark this season. Shedeur is working overtime with his receivers to prepare himself to be ready when the season rolls around. While Travis Hunter is his go-to target, this season another name is likely to pop up in that conversation.

That wideout is LaJohntay Wester, the transfer from Florida Atlantic. Identified as a prospect with immense talent, Wester had 1,168 yards and 8 touchdowns with his alma mater last season. He was a first-team all-conference player with a mentality that very few players possess. Wester has the toughness to hang in there when things get hard and, more importantly, he is a leader in the locker room.

Porter was picked by Sanders himself, who watched his film and knew that he had to have him on his team. In the most recent film of the duo practicing, Shedeur can be seen guiding his wideouts on their routes, instructing them to make adjustments based on his arm swing and eye position. As he gears up to take his leadership and throwing skills to a professional level, he is also helping groom Wester to take over as a leader next season.

Wester showed up at the Buffaloes spring game. He raked in 66 yards, the highest in the game, and gave fans a taste of what to expect next season. Wester has the speed and that elite route-running combination which will help him leave defenses in the dust.

The Buffaloes offense is serious. With upgrades in the O-line, the team is going to perform better than they did last season. The trio of Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter, and LaJohntay Porter will be one to watch out for closely this season. Shedeur hopes to follow on the footsteps of his father, Deion Sanders, and become a top-5 pick in the NFL Draft.
