Jayden Daniels had already bagged the FOX and Sporting News’s Offensive Rookie of the Year titles. On Thursday, the NFL officially conferred Daniels with the 2024 OROY accolade.

Daniels led the Commanders to their first NFC title game since the early 1990s where they played against their NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite contributing two touchdowns in the game, a supercharged Eagles team led by Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley proved too hot to handle for the Commanders. Dan Quinn’s team lost the fixture 22-55. Daniels’ performance and leadership made a mark on the game, winning football fans’ hearts. The NFL and Associated Press rightfully awarded Daniels the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Social media raves about Jayden Daniels being named NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year

Daniels is a rare talent that appears once in a couple of decades. He instantly adapted to the pace and physicality of the NFL and dominated defenses, becoming only the sixth quarterback to reach a conference championship game in their rookie season (Shaun King, Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Flacco, Mark Sanchez, and Brock Purdy are the other five).

In terms of AV statistics, Jayden Daniels had the best rookie season of any player in NFL history. He posted a better AV (20) rank than former Panthers QB Cam Newton (19). By passer rating, Daniels’ rookie season is fourth all-time at 100.1—trailing Dak Prescott, Robert Griffin III, and CJ Stroud. It’s not a stretch to call Daniels’ rookie year one of the best, so giving him the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year title makes sense. He won the honor by landslide 49-1 voting against Raiders TE Brock Bowers.

The Commanders drafted Daniels second overall in 2024 after the Bears took Caleb Williams. Daniels threw for 3,568 yards, 25 TDs, and 9 INTs with a 69.0 completion percentage in 17 games, along with 891 yards on 148 carries (6.0 YPC) and 6 TDs on the ground.

He was Offensive Rookie of the Week 11 times during the season, won the PWFA Rookie of the Year award, and made it to the Pro Bowl.
