Why did the Commanders release Brandon McManus?

Last month, two women came forward accusing the former Jags kicker of s*xually harassing them on a London-bound plane in September 2023. The women who refused to disclose their names filed a lawsuit at the district civil court. The lawsuit read that McManus forcefully rubbed himself against their will.

Additionally, they revealed the flight became a party hub for the Jaguars players that violated Air Traffic safety regulations. Furthermore, McManus recruited three other flight attendants and gave them $100 each, encouraging them to drink and dance inappropriately for him.

Jane Doe 1, in a personal statement, disclosed that McManus tried to kiss her while she was strapped in the jump seat when the plane was going through turbulence.

Jane Doe 2, accused of similar behavior from him during inflight service. She tried to resist but was unable to push him away. Other players did make eye contact and apparently felt ashamed of their teammate’s erratic behavior.

The women are seeking compensation

A spokesperson from the Commanders last week revealed to be keeping an eye on the situation.

We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are looking into the matter.

Even though McManus’ attorney Brett Gallaway denied the charges, calling the fictitious and money-grabbing tactics, the Commanders eventually decided to cut his client.

The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov shared on X, that the two women are seeking $1 million compensation and a jury trial.

McManus and the Jaguars have until June 17 to respond. In the meantime, Gallaway released a statement from McManus, thanking the Commanders organization for the opportunity.

However, he refused to accept that the two women proclaimed falsified allegations.

We reiterate that the allegations against Brandon [McManus] are and remain false and, importantly, are contradicted by indisputable evidence and the accusers’ own prior inconsistent statements and omissions.
Brett Gallaway said per the Washington Post

The Commanders have yet to decide who would be McManus’ replacement. An insider predicted that they might sign XFL player Jake Bates.
