After the devastating end to the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Eagles are arming themselves with explosive weapons on the roster, especially the offensive line that witnessed an abysmal collapse late in the season following a remarkable 10-1 record.
The newest weapon on quarterback Jalen Hurts’ offense has been acquired in a trade deal with Washington Commanders, named Jahan Dotson. Philly has been struggling to fill in the wide receiver No. 3 position for quite some time now but with the trade-in for Dotson, that issue is resolved, and the team can get back to the day-and-night preparation for the coming 2024 season.
With the addition of Dotson to the already explosive squad including A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith– who also received their long-term extensions this season–the Eagles have created one of the strongest receiving corps in the league.
Though the former Penn State star had a fine record of 84 catches for 1,041 yards in 29 games he played for the Commanders in the last two seasons, he had particularly impressive stats against the Eagles with 15 catches for 159 yards and two scores in four games.
With Brown, DeVonta, and now Dotson, quarterback Hurts now has a dangerous receivers trio joined by star running back Saquon Barkley and tight end Dallas Goedert.
Fans laud Philadelphia Eagles’ ‘masterclass’ trading in Jahan Dotson
This offseason, Philly General Manager Howie Roseman has received immense appreciation for handling the offseason with grace and live spirit despite last season’s fiasco. Previously, when asked about the available third wide receiver position, Roseman stated that the position is really important for the team, and they are waiting for any of the receivers to display their skillset.

As fans got the news of Dotson’s addition to Philly’s offensive line as the third wide receiver, they again praised Roseman for his “masterclass.” One fan wrote, “Another Howie masterclass,” while another wrote, “They really let us get this demon, capable wr2 playing wr3.” Here are some of the fan reactions:
Philly fans are really excited to have a weapon such as Dotson on the team, who has the potential to be the second wide receiver. Meanwhile, the Commanders’ fans are upset with the franchise for trading the wideout and giving up on him so soon.
