The trial for Benjamin Mendy is still going on. A total of eight counts of rape, including one that has since been dropped by Cheshire Court, as well as one count of attempted rape and one count of sexual assault are being tried against Manchester City‘s French international left-back still under contract until 2023 who has been inactive since his arrest. The accused has six young women as victims.

In court, Benjamin Mendy asserted that he had consensual relations with the women who had accused him and had never stopped any of them from leaving his house. He acknowledged that there was a room in his estate that required a code to enter, but he told the women that they “could leave at any time” and that the room opened from the inside.

I am shocked to be accused of rape and false imprisonment. The sex between me and (Woman Two) was completely consensual. I did nothing to stop her from leaving. She (Woman Four) said she wanted to get to know me better and would like to be in a relationship. I made it clear that I wasn’t interested in a relationship and went to leave. He stopped me and we started kissing ,” Mendy stated.
