NFL players are arguably the fittest athletes across all sports. The sport requires them to be physically strong and put on muscle without compromising their stamina and athleticism. While all NFL players are in great shape, a handful of them who are genetically blessed are in a position to take it to the next level with their dedication and work ethic. Derrick Henry is a prime example of that.
The running back for the Baltimore Ravens is a Madden My Player who has come to life. He is strong and fast, a lethal combination while going up against defensive backs in the league. However, NBA shooting guard Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves believes he has what it takes to tackle Derrick Henry. Unsurprisingly, the running back scoffed right after he heard this.
The Baltimore Ravens’ Instagram handle posted a video asking Henry if he thought the confident NBA guard could tackle him. His response was not shocking. “Do I think that Anthony Edwards could tackle me? Hell, nah!” Henry said before running off from the frame. His reaction is similar to that of NFL fans who know what Henry is capable of.
Derrick Henry spends upwards of $250,000 per year to stay in shape
Just a reminder that this is the same man who stiff-armed Josh Norman so hard that the cornerback was in the air for a second before he landed hard on his back. To put this in mathematical terms, Henry pushed a 200-pound man with relative ease and Anthony Edwards, a 225-pound individual believes he can stop this freak of nature.
The second show of strength was when Henry stiff-armed Rayshawn Jenkins and made him fall out of bounds. Under normal circumstances, Edwards’ confidence forms part of his aura but in this case, not so much.
Anthony Edwards made these comments while hanging out with Vikings’ Justin Jefferson as the duo recreated the iconic photo of Kevin Garnett and Randy Moss for ESPN Magazine. Edwards claimed that he would be able to play safety in the NFL, “Me and Derrick Henry, I ain’t gonna pop him but I’m going to get that ***** for sure!” the guard confidently iterated. Justin Jefferson was baffled after he heard this and instantly reacted with “WHAT?!” because he knows what Henry is capable of.
Derrick Henry recently revealed that the upkeep of his body costs him around a quarter of a million dollars per year. He has taken a page out of LeBron James’ approach and does not shy away from investing to stay in the best shape and recover well because his body is his livelihood. It is no surprise that at the age of 30, he continues to outrun younger cornerbacks and continues to dominate in the NFL.
