Yesterday, the rumor mill churned some Brock Lesnar rumors yet again. The speculation picked up heavily after WrestleVotes noted that WWE is still interested in bringing back the former 10-time World Champion. The outlet even went on to state that talks between the two sides were ongoing. Shortly after social media started buzzing with the news, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful came up with a report of his own.

As per the reputed Fightful journalist, WWE doesn’t have any plans for Lesnar to return at this point. He noted that the aforementioned tidbit by WrestleVotes was shot down within the company at a higher level. Sources tell Sapp that even if the conversations had happened, the creative team hadn’t been briefed about it. Brock’s WWE return was derailed earlier this year following his involvement in the Janel Grant lawsuit.

Even though his name wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the suit, people close to the situation identified an unnamed UFC fighter and WWE star as Brock himself. Grant, the plaintiff, alleged that Vince McMahon asked her to prepare personalized s*xual content for someone he was trying to re-sign, and that was The Beast Incarnate.

In December 2021, McMahon shared Janel’s personal cell phone number with Lesnar. The former UFC Champion had intended to set a play date with Ms. Grant, but a snowstorm averted those plans. The report via Fightful also adds that WWE’s been trying to avoid mentioning Lesnar’s name on their programming.

An exception can be made about Paul Heyman‘s Hall of Fame induction speech, wherein he outright namedropped his former client. Outside of that, there hasn’t been a particular mention of the 47-year-old.

From where did the Brock Lesnar return rumors start rolling?

This past Monday on Raw, there were a couple of instances where Brock Lesnar was seemingly referenced. First, it was Seth Rollins who implicitly reminded everyone of slaying The Beast while he was pleading with Adam Pearce over Bronson Reed‘s trail of destruction.

Next, Cody Rhodes sneaked in a Lesnar reference when he told Gunther that he’d already slain a beast. Fans argued that since the show was taped, WWE could’ve easily trimmed those off had they wished to.

However, they made it to air. It didn’t look like the company was trying to shun The Conqueror by any means. Before he was sidelined owing to the lawsuit, Lesnar was set to return in the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match. He was pegged to battle Gunther at WrestleMania XL.
