In a wild game on Saturday between the Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks, tempers boiled over in the final few seconds. During this, Connor McDavid got into a scrum with Conor Garland and was ejected after a high cross-check.
With the Oilers trailing the game 3-2, they were desperately trying to get a goal and force the game into overtime. McDavid, the captain of the Oilers, found himself in a tangle with Garland as his team kept control of the puck.
The two would grab each other and started wrestling each other. After a few seconds of grabbing and tucking down on the field, McDavid would get up and tried to get away from Garland.
With less than four seconds left on the goal, McDavid would unleash a high-cross check on Garland. This ignited a brawl among the two sets of the players as tempers flared up.

In his defense, McDavid was pinned down on the ice for a while. In the midst of this scrum, another cross-checking incident took place which later came to light.
Across the ice, Evan Bouchard and Tyler Myers got into a verbal spat. Myers would then cross-check Bouchard just like the Oilers captain did. Check out that incident below:

The Vancouver Canucks eventually won the game 3-2. However, both McDavid and Myers are now facing the looming threat of suspension. The two stars are leaders of their team and their absence from games could hurt the teams as both of them push for the playoffs.
Social media reactions towards Connor McDavid getting ejected for cross-checking
Even the best of players can sometimes lose their cool. This was seen during the Edmonton Oilers-Vancouver Canucks game as NHL superstar Connor McDavid lost his temper and attempted a brutal cross-check on his opponent.
The forward, who recently celebrated his 28th forward, got ejected from the game for his actions against Conor Garland. Fans on social media though have been left divided.
While some have urged the league to suspend him, many have spoken in his favor. They pointed out Garland’s action in holding and pinning him down. One fan wrote, “This is terrible officiating“.

If the refs had done their job and called the holding from Garland it wouldn't have escalated. The things that players have gotten away with against McDavid is actually ridiculous, that being said crosschecking high up like that shouldnt be the answer but the guy has had enough

Now discuss Garlands multiple penalties

In McDavid's defense, about nine penalties should have been called on Garland there. I can sympathize with the frustration…

If the league is serious he gets suspended for this

Reilly got 5 games. McDavid and Myers should get the same

McDavid had a right to cross check him. The refs should have called interference but didn’t. It’s the refs fault.

Tyler myers should get 5 games bruh

Garbage officiating, those refs should be reprimanded. And Garland is a piece of 💩, he deserved that shot to the face from McDavid full tilt.

So was myers the reffing was fuckin horrible both sides.

It now remains to be seen what the NHL Department of Player Safety (DoPS) thinks about this. A potential penalty could see both McDavid and Myers get handed a multi-game suspension for this actions.
