Lately, Conor McGregor has been extremely vocal about wanting his fight contract while teasing a major comeback fight. The former two-division champion has repeatedly hinted that his return could take place at the much-discussed White House event. Given his well-documented friendship with Donald Trump, many fans believe his chances of headlining remain significantly strong.

However, respected journalist Ariel Helwani recently reported that McGregor may not feature on the prestigious fight card. Helwani revealed that the UFC is actively targeting a blockbuster heavyweight showdown between Alex Pereira and Jon Jones. According to the report, that potential clash could ultimately serve as the official main event of the White House event.

Helwani further suggested that McGregor might instead return during International Fight Week on July 11th in Las Vegas. Recently, McGregor made headlines for topping the list as the most tested fighter as per the Drug Free Sport International (DFSI). The fighter is currently serving a 18 month suspension after missing multiple drug tests back in 2024.

On top of that, Conor McGregor has consistently posted intense training clips, sharpening the precise striking skills that define his fighting identity. At one stage, strong rumors suggested that Michael Chandler was positioned to welcome McGregor back inside the octagon.

However, UFC CEO Dana White publicly dismissed those claims, cooling expectations of that particular matchup materializing anytime soon. Given his superstar status and commercial drawing power, countless fighters would eagerly accept the opportunity to face ‘The Notorious’.

UFC veteran ready for his rematch against Conor McGregor

Throughout his career, Conor McGregor has shared the octagon with several fighters who shaped modern UFC history. One of those notable opponents was Max Holloway, whom McGregor defeated in their featherweight clash back in 2013. Since that encounter, Holloway has evolved, eventually capturing the UFC featherweight championship and later claiming the symbolic BMF title.

Somewhat similar to McGregor, ‘Blessed’ is known for his striking-heavy style built around relentless pressure and volume. Over the years, he has delivered multiple unforgettable wars that solidified his reputation as one of the division’s most entertaining competitors.

In his most recent outing, Holloway secured a significant victory over Dustin Poirier, avenging previous defeats emphatically. During a recent interview, Holloway was questioned about a potential rematch with McGregor and displayed absolutely no hesitation whatsoever.

Yeah. That would be a fun fight. Getting one back against everybody who got one over me would be awesome.
