Betting is a common occurrence in the sports world. It’s not just restricted to MMA but also diversifies to other sports. Enter UFC superstar Conor McGregor with a surprise bet. The brash Irishman revealed that he had wagered on Cristiano Ronaldo, retaining the prestigious award he claimed in 2021.
Conor McGregor announced that he had placed a massive $60,000 wager on Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Golden Boot in Euro 2024. If the bet pays off, the “Notorious” stands to pocket a cool $900,000 from Euro 2024. This is no small sum, even for a fighter of McGregor’s considerable means.

The ‘Siuuu’ is Ronaldo’s famous celebration cry. McGregor seems utterly convinced of Ronaldo’s prowess. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner did clinch the Golden Boot at Euro 2020 (held in 2021 due to the pandemic) with five goals. He edged out Czech star Patrik Schick via the tiebreaker of the fewest minutes played.
McGregor himself was set to grace the Octagon on June 29 against Michael Chandler. However, undisclosed injuries forced him out of one of the biggest cards ever. His return to the sport that made him so famous was one of this year’s most widely anticipated events. However, he will make his return sooner rather than later.
