Fans and reporters have asked about Conor McGregor to UFC CEO Dana White multiple times in the last few days. Initially, White spoke about McGregor needing to recover from injury to book the Irish fighter again. Yesterday, the UFC boss spoke about the Irish star having a torn ACL during the post-fight press conference of UFC Oklahoma City.
A torn ACL in late thirties is very difficult for an MMA fighter to come back from. As such, Dana White told reporters not to ask about McGregor until the Irish superstar is fully fit to compete. ‘The Notorious’ has one more fight on his contract, and he was very adamant about wanting to compete one more time in the UFC to make things right.
To that end, he told fans online that he wanted to face Max Holloway in a trilogy bout. However, Holloway may not wait around for McGregor to recover from the injury. Recently, ‘The Notorious’ informed fans on X that it was not just an ACL injury, but also tore his meniscus as well.
Update: It was ACL and meniscus. It is the same injury as the first Holloway fight, only this time the opposite leg. Quite shocking.

Back when McGregor first injured his ACL in the first Max Holloway bout, he returned to full training nine months later, and competed in the eleventh month following the injury. Many doubt if the Irishman can return from the devastating injury he suffered at UFC 329.
After all, very rarely do the UFC fighters return to compete at a high level after suffering multiple injuries. Fellow legends Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman was plagued by injuries even after recovering from their broken legs. Nevertheless, McGregor remains positive about his recovery.
With today’s regenerative medicine advancements and improved training methods it is well within my realm to return by next summer. I am walking without a crutch. I done leg extension machine work the other day to no issue. So I can walk without aid, and activate my quad under resistance.

A return later next year is possible if the recovery process go well for McGregor. By that time, the state of the UFC may not look like what it does now. In a few months time, fighters like Ilia Topuria, Khamzat Chimaev, and Alex Pereira no longer hold a UFC title. As such, even when ‘The Notorious’ returns, no one can quite say who he will face at this time.
So far, McGregor has kept a positive attitude despite the setback at UFC 329. If he keep can maintain this streak and avoid his partying lifestyle, a return next year is definitely possible.
