Over the years, the UFC community has seen many heated rivalries that ultimately ended positively. However, the rivalry between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov appears to persist even years after their fight in the UFC. Most recently, the Irishman took another lengthy and provocative jab at the former undisputed lightweight champion.
Conor McGregor is known for his outspoken persona. Throughout his UFC career, the Irishman has engaged with many notable competitors, often making brutal and disrespectful comments. Most recently, Khabib Nurmagomedov was the target of McGregor’s remarks. This time, the ‘Notorious’ even dragged the former undisputed UFC lightweight champion’s family into the situation.

Nurmagomedov is not as outgoing as many other notable UFC fighters, including McGregor. The ‘Eagle’ is someone who keeps his family life quite private. This is not the first time McGregor has taken wild jabs at Nurmagomedov’s family. Over the years, there have been many instances where McGregor has reignited his rivalry with the ‘Eagle’ by insulting his family members. However, the reason for his recent outburst remains unclear.

One possible reason for the ongoing tension could be Nurmagomedov’s recent comments about Irish MMA fighters. In his statement, he appeared to downplay the skills of Irish fighters in the global MMA scene while ranking his Dagestani fighters much higher.
This prompted significant back-and-forth exchanges among many notable MMA fighters from both Dagestan and Ireland. Interestingly, Nurmagomedov even took the opportunity to mock McGregor during this exchange.
Khabib Nurmagomedov fires shots at Conor McGregor referencing the Irishman’s recent controversies
The rivalry between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor primarily originated from the infamous bus incident. McGregor, along with several members of his team, ambushed and attacked a UFC bus that was carrying Nurmagomedov and his teammates. As a result of this incident, a longstanding feud developed between the Irishman and the Dagestani fighter.
Although McGregor lost to Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, they never reconciled their differences. Recently, following a highly publicized PFL Dubai headliner fight, Nurmagomedov shared a respectful moment with Irish prospect Paul Hughes. In a much-discussed video, Hughes made it clear that he wanted to distinguish himself from McGregor. Shortly after, Nurmagomedov referenced the video and took a jab at McGregor on social media.

Recently, McGregor has been involved in various controversial activities. Notably, he was also held liable in a s*xual assault case, which caused a significant stir in the UFC community. As a result, many prominent figures, including Nurmagomedov, seized the opportunity to criticize the Irishman. However, with McGregor recently making a jab at Nurmagomedov, it will be interesting to see how Nurmagomedov will respond.
