Hardcore enthusiasts still expected news about Conor McGregor‘s return during the UFC 300’s official Media Day presser and staredowns. Dana White quickly snubbed down internet reports that Michael Chandler and the Irishman could play a promotional part. In light of all these, McGregor himself has spoken out.

While McGregor-related news or the Irishman was a no-show, elsewhere, the fighter talked about not hanging up his gloves any time soon. Even recently, McGregor said he’d fight to the grave, hyping up the fans. Conor McGregor appeared on SiriusXM’s This Life of Mine with James Corden. He talked about his long lay-off and injury fighting Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

I knew it was going to happen, I had stress fractures in the leg. It was one of the early kicks. I could feel it. I could feel the two bones just go like that, so when the leg broke early in the fight, when that happened, that twist, the balance, the stability was gone. I was able to steady on one leg and not bear full weight...God bless medical science. God bless my pockets, my net worth and, you know, being able to afford care at the highest, highest level. I had the best care...

While McGregor remains a fan favorite, his absence from UFC 300-related promos and pre-fight festivities shouldn’t come as a surprise. Many pundits and enthusiasts advocate that UFC 300 doesn’t need McGregor. However, one thing he’s ecstatically thankful about is the marvel of modern clinical sciences.

He had shattered his left tibia and fibula during the final seconds of UFC 264’s first round. However, McGregor felt a titanium shin-bone insertion made him feel like a ‘Terminator.’ He had made this prime comparison to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character before as well and even channeled him in his new movie. All in all, he’s ready for business and looks primed for an octagon return.

Corey Hill, Anderson Silva, and Chris Weidman have all been snubbed from active status due to such injuries. Even Joe Rogan worried about him bouncing back in shape. However, with McGregor confirming a summer return to ESPN MMA’s Marc Raimondi might have a different fortune than Silva or Weidman. He has habitually kept updating on his health.

During recovery, ‘The Notorious’ received a lot of get-well wishes. Taking to IG, McGregor posted a skit atop a motor pool mobility scooter comparing himself to “Arnie from Terminator 2.” Moreover, he mentioned that both Dana White and Poirier knew of his stress fractures leading to the fight. With images of a bandaged left leg before UFC 264, he mentioned training on one-legged stances.

Coaching the TUF: Season 31, he started training full-fledged in 2023. He’d post many training snippets showcasing a full motion range after healing. Sometimes, he would go in overdrive and even tout his titanium shin a bit too much.

All in all, the fighter is ready for a return. At 35-years-old, the prime version of McGregor is gone. Only time will tell if the Irishman has some tricks remaining to win a fight after four years.
