Conor McGregor is just a couple of days away from making his much awaited return to the octagon at UFC 257. He takes on Dustin Poirier, in a lightweight bout, which will bring the winner just within striking distance of lightweight gold. With that said, Conor looks like he is in the shape of his life, and he sounds like the ‘Motivated’ version of himself.

Speaking about this in an interview with Fightful, former UFC fighter and current coach Din Thomas, compared Conor McGregor to other fighters. He revealed that Conor McGregor gives up when the going gets tough, citing examples from his losses against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Nate Diaz.

We still don’t really know how good of a fighter he is‘ – Din Thomas

Din Thomas was quoted as saying, “Conor McGregor is a once-in-a-generational type fighter, but he is not a G.O.A.T.. In fact, you know what’s weird about Conor? We still don’t really know how good of a fighter he is. We know he is a devastating finisher. He can knock you out. We know he competes well, but we don’t know how good of a fighter he actually is.” [via BJPENN.com]

He continued, “When things get a little tough for Conor McGregor, he kind of gives up. We don’t really know what he’s made of. I think he has gotten better at it. When things got a little tough against Khabib [Nurmagomedov]… he was able to withstand that. He came back after a tough round against Nate Diaz in the second fight and had some moments in that fight, but other than that, he’s either dominating quickly or quick-tapping. We don’t really know how good he is.” [via BJPENN.com]

Do you agree with Din Thomas? If, not where do you think Conor ranks in your opinion?
