UFC superstar Conor McGregor continues to find himself at the center of controversies and legal troubles. Recently, the Irish fighter was ordered to pay $250,000 in a civil lawsuit settlement. However, it appears McGregor may face even greater financial consequences as he now deals with a new lawsuit.
During the 2023 NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets, Conor McGregor attended the game at Kaseya Center. Following the event, he was accused of se*ual assault by a woman, who claimed the incident occurred inside the stadium. The case was initially halted after the State Attorney declined to proceed with filing criminal charges against McGregor.
Now after almost two years, the 49-year-old woman has resorted to filing a civil lawsuit. The lawsuit seeks medical treatment costs, compensatory damages, and other relief from McGregor as deemed reasonable. According to the woman’s attorney, Jim Dunn, she is doing this to “raise awareness and encourage others to report se*ual assault.”
Conor McGregor faces two lawsuits in two months
This lawsuit comes two months after a different woman accused Conor McGregor of se*ual assault in a hotel room in Dublin in 2018. In November 2024, she won the civil claim and McGregor was held accountable and had to pay the settlement. It has affected the Irishman’s reputation and has cost millions of dollars due to sponsorship withdrawals.
The timing of this new lawsuit couldn’t get more interesting than this and McGregor is yet to make an official statement. The complaint was filed on Tuesday in the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida. It alleged that McGregor “intentionally engaged in unlawful se*ual contact” without the woman’s consent or permission to do so.
What did Conor McGregor do in the Miami Heat Game?
Conor McGregor was there to promote TIDL Sport, McGregor’s body spray as an official sponsor of the Miami Heat. During the presentation, the ‘Notorious’ beat up the mascot who was later hospitalized which is detailed in the lawsuit. It was all supposed to be staged, but the drama turned into reality after Burnie got knocked out with a real punch.
It also alleged that after the game, one member of McGregor’s team forcefully took the woman and her acquaintance to the men’s restroom. Back then McGregor had denied all the accusations and his stance with the most recent lawsuit is also the same. It would be interesting to see the outcome of this latest development.
