Four years after suffering a devastating leg injury, former UFC double champion Conor McGregor has officially confirmed his long-awaited return. The ‘Notorious’ is eager to headline the highly anticipated UFC White House event. With nearly one year until the event, UFC CEO Dana White expressed confidence in McGregor’s professionalism, trusting his commitment fully.
Conor McGregor wants former Bellator champion Michael Chandler to stand across from him at this historic event. During his prime, the Irish superstar was globally recognized for bold fight predictions, which surprisingly turned out correct on several occasions. As McGregor gears up to face Chandler at the White House event, he revived his ‘Mystic Mac’ persona with confidence.

McGregor built his legend by accurately predicting fight outcomes, earning the nickname ‘Mystic Mac’ from fans worldwide. Against Diego Brandao in Dublin, McGregor boldly declared a first-round knockout, delivering exactly that with a devastating finish inside the Octagon. Before facing Dustin Poirier at UFC 178, McGregor promised another early stoppage, knocking him out within two minutes.

McGregor KO win, 1st round.
UFC White House.
Most famously, he predicted an early knockout over Jose Aldo at UFC 194, and his left hand landed perfectly, ending Aldo’s reign. Following that, McGregor also became the first UFC double champion by beating Eddie Alvarez via TKO in the second round. Throughout this, the fighter also maintained his ‘Notorious’ personality and used trash talking to get into his opponent’s head.
However, those days are long gone, and McGregor has lost three of his last four UFC bouts, inviting doubts from fans. The fighter doesn’t have the speed or accuracy, but certainly has the left hand, which can knock out Michael Chandler. It will be interesting to see whether UFC gives the green light to the fight for the main event of the UFC White House event.
Michael Chandler vs. Conor McGregor to be the biggest fight in UFC history
The rivalry between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler first sparked during the filming of The Ultimate Fighter Season 31 in 2023. Both superstars clashed face-to-face, and their heated interactions immediately caught the attention of fans, who appreciated the competitive intensity.

Chandler, known for his theatrics, quickly gained recognition for delivering viral promos, making him a fitting rival for McGregor. Unfortunately, after waiting nearly two years for the Irishman’s return, Chandler grew frustrated, feeling valuable years of his career were wasted.
After that, he fought Charles Oliveira and Paddy Pimblett but suffered two consecutive losses, though his fighting spirit remained completely unaffected. Recently, Chandler talked about fighting McGregor at the White House event, calling it potentially the biggest fight in UFC history.
It seems like that’s a heck of a main event for the UFC White House. This has all of the ingredients that you need for the biggest fight in UFC history. You’ve got Conor McGregor and myself, two huge stars in the UFC. We’ve got history. There was a build-up to this fight and now you’re talking about 250 years of this great nation of ours, America’s birthday, the celebration near July 4, at the White House. Like we said, this will never ever be done before.

The biggest fight in UFC history remains Conor McGregor’s heated clash with his arch-rival Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. It was the storyline, drama, and undeniable bad blood between both fighters that elevated it into a once-in-a-generation spectacle.
While surpassing such a legendary battle will always be difficult, the upcoming White House event carries massive historical potential. Dana White already unveiled grand renderings, with ambitious plans to host around 90,000 passionate fans in total attendance.
