Conor McGregor, who hopes to return after a long absence from MMA, has recently shown renewed determination to make his long-awaited comeback next year. The former UFC double champion has vowed to be fully prepared for the highly anticipated White House event in June 2026, despite lingering doubts about whether he will actually step back into competition.
McGregor insists he has done everything necessary to return, revealing that he confronted some of the deepest challenges of his life in the process. In search of clarity and healing, he traveled to Tijuana, Mexico, where he underwent an intensive ibogaine-based psychedelic treatment designed to address severe emotional trauma.
He described the experience as life-saving, deeply spiritual, and transformative during a period he says required complete honesty and emotional grounding. According to McGregor on X, the therapy helped him reconnect with his true self, restore his faith in God, and refocus both his personal and professional direction as he prepares for a potential career resurgence.
I travelled to Tijuana Mexico and underwent Ibogaine treatment at AMBIO. It was incredible, intense, and absolutely eye opening. I was shown what would have been my death. How soon it was to be, and how it would have impacted my children.

The Irishman further reflected on the experience and continued in the same lengthy post.
I was looking down on myself as it happened, and then I was looking out from the coffin. God then came to me in the Holy Trinity. He is MIGHTY! Jesus, his child. Mary, his Mother. The Archangels. All present in heaven. I was shown the light.

The AMBIO clinic he mentioned is among several Mexico-based facilities legally providing ibogaine, a powerful psychedelic compound. It is used experimentally for trauma, addiction, and post-traumatic stress, offering patients a unique therapeutic pathway unavailable in many other regions worldwide.

The substance induces an intense dream-like state lasting hours, allowing individuals to relive important memories, confront deep trauma, and gain renewed emotional understanding. McGregor described working closely with physicians connected to cutting-edge research while undergoing a single, carefully supervised high-dose ibogaine session.
His recent history includes serious assault allegations and continuing criminal and civil cases affecting his public image. ‘The Notorious’ pursued this treatment after serving an 18-month anti-doping suspension for missing multiple random tests in September 2024.
As of late, the Irishman has openly admitted that becoming a millionaire and rising into global superstardom negatively affected his life in unexpected ways. To regain balance and return on track, the ‘Mystic Mac’ has repeatedly spoken about seeking meaningful spiritual guidance and deep psychological healing.
Why does Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler make sense?
Conor McGregor has signalled his desire to face Michael Chandler at the anticipated White House event, energising fans worldwide today. Chandler remains hopeful about securing another opportunity against McGregor despite losing two years earlier, previously trying to get that fight at UFC 303.

He believes their long-anticipated clash could become the biggest fight in UFC history, delivering unprecedented excitement and commercial success globally. For the unversed, McGregor has not stepped inside the Octagon for more than four years, raising concerns about his competitive sharpness and conditioning.
Moreover, ‘Iron’ has also struggled to maintain top form recently, creating uncertainty about his readiness for a high-profile return to elite contention. Despite lacking official confirmation, McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, maintains that their focused training strongly signals a genuine commitment toward making this matchup.
I think the match-up makes sense. It would be a fun one. They kind of have a spark between them. I think it would be a fun fight week, with the press conference and all of that. Style wise, that kind of shorter stocky wrestler. He (McGregor) has faced few of those in his day. I’m in the mindset that that’s what we are doing.
