Back then, Conor McGregor was scheduled to face Rafael Dos Anjos for a UFC Lightweight Title. However, Anjos pulled out and Nate Diaz took up the fight on 11 days’ notice. Surprisingly, Diaz tapped out McGregor in the second round and handed McGregor his first loss in the UFC.

Then the rematch was demanded and finally took place at UFC 202. McGregor was fiercely looking for redemption during the fight and put one of the best performances of his career. Both the fighters fought well until a five-round blood path and eventually ‘The Notorious One‘ walked out as a winner. It was via a unanimous decision.

Since the score between the two stands at 1-1, there have been several talks over a potential trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. Now, McGregor has once again teased for a return, that too for a trilogy against Nate Diaz.

Conor McGregor has announced his retirement a few months back for the third time. But he can return once again if a third fight against Nate Diaz is on the line.

Diaz has fought last time at UFC 244 where he faced Jorge Masvidal for the inaugural BMF Championship. Masvidal won it but the fight ended in a controversial manner.
