Last week, Cody Rhodes was in Las Vegas doing media to promote WrestleMania 41. He also caught up with The Schmo. Rhodes was asked to name any professional athlete outside of wrestling he’d like to see in WWE. The American Nightmare said it has to be Conor McGregor. And guess what? It seems like the Mystic Mac couldn’t wait to meet the Undisputed WWE Champion as depicted by his following post on X.

In the aforementioned interview, Cody underlined the challenges a person has to overcome, just so one could possibly perform at WrestleMania one day. For someone like Conor, whom Cody hailed for competing at the highest level, said he’d excel in WWE too. Rhodes added that he believes it’s time for the Irishman to dip his toes into sports entertainment.

McGregor hasn’t stepped back into the Octagon since July 2021, when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Notorious One was pegged for a comeback earlier this year in June, but this time around, a toe injury while training derailed everything.

The Southpaw has already confirmed he wouldn’t be back until 2025. It’d be interesting to see if Conor McGregor ever considers having a WWE sojourn. Earlier this month, Cody Rhodes was at a live event in Manchester. He brought out reigning UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall in the ring.

The British MMA fighter was there to pose with Rhodes and Gunther. That was an example of WWE’s bolstering ties with the UFC, especially since TKO assembled the two sporting juggernauts under its umbrella. The WWE-UFC crossovers are no longer a far cry.

Cody Rhodes gives a sneak peek into WrestleMania plans

While speaking to The Schmo, Cody Rhodes was first asked to shed some light on what the fans could expect from WrestleMania next year. The Prodigal Son alluded to the daunting task of topping each Mania edition from its predecessor.

At WrestleMania XL, Rhodes created a moment for the ages when he dethroned Roman Reigns to end his 1316-day title reign. It’s tough to follow that. However, Cody asserted that no matter what the rumors suggest, WWE is going to blow it off with what they’ve planned.

As things stand, the ex-AEW EVP is penciled in to take on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Roman Reigns in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 41. Apart from that, Cody has yet to sustain a head-on collision with Kevin Owens, who turned his back on Rhodes following Bad Blood.
