Conor McGregor Trolls Nate Diaz for Rejecting Trilogy Showdown in Favor of Mike Perry Beatdown
Conor McGregor ridiculed Nate Diaz for his poor showing against Mike Perry while hinting at a future trilogy fight against the 'Stockton Slugger'.

- Conor McGregor mocked Nate Diaz after Diaz's TKO loss to Mike Perry in his MMA comeback.
- Diaz rejected a fight against McGregor, preferring to face Charles Oliveira instead.
- McGregor's upcoming fight is against Max Holloway at UFC 329, with a potential trilogy against Diaz still possible.
Conor McGregor did not hold back in teasing his longtime rival, Nate Diaz, after the latter’s MMA comeback last Saturday. The ‘Stockton Slugger’ lost to Mike Perry in the second round via TKO. The fight itself was incredibly lopsided, with Perry’s beatdown opening up a gnarly cut on Diaz’s face, which leaked blood all over him.
This led to the doctor stopping the fight, quite similarly to how Diaz’s fight against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 ended. However, unlike the dying minutes of the Masvidal fight, Diaz couldn’t mount any meaningful offense against Perry. Conor McGregor clowned this abysmal showing from Diaz on X.
The former UFC double champion referenced Diaz’s alleged rejection of a fight against him, trolling him for making those comments. However, the Irishman also hinted at a trilogy fight while insulting, seemingly looking past his upcoming UFC 329 opponent.
I see why @NateDiaz209 didn’t take the fight lol. Anyway here’s to when I get my hands on you… #TrilogyAndIGonnaNeedMyMoney

Diaz had earlier revealed a wish list of opponents that he wanted to take on in a hypothetical UFC Freedom 250 fight. Back then, McGregor was a part of that list alongside Dustin Poirier and recent opponent Mike Perry. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Diaz had alluded to turning down the UFC’s offer for a fight against Conor McGregor.
He said he did not want to be Conor McGregor’s return fight, a spot that Max Holloway has now claimed heading into UFC 329. Diaz revealed BMF titleholder Charles Oliveira as his preferred opponent for a UFC return. ‘Do Bronx’ was not a part of the aforementioned wishlist.
However, with Diaz’s condition now being met, Conor McGregor seemingly wants to settle the feud with the Stockton Slugger. Diaz was actually asked about Dana White announcing Conor McGregor’s return fight. The 41-year-old expressed his happiness at the fight finally being booked.

Conor McGregor’s return fight seemed to become a kind of “boy who cried wolf” for the UFC. Despite McGregor officially pulling out of just one fight in his career (UFC 303 fight against Michael Chandler), fans became wary of believing the Irishman’s constant promises of a comeback.
A couple of weeks after Max Holloway revealed that he was in camp for next bout. Dana White went on to announce that ‘Blessed’ will go up against the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor at UFC 329.

The announcement was made by Dana White right as Francis Ngannou was walking out for his Netflix MMA bout. Jake Paul lambasted Dana White for allegedly “piggybacking” off their success at the MVP presser. However, when Nate Diaz was asked about the fight and its seemingly calculated announcement, he simply addressed the fight.
No, that’s going to be a good fight, though. About time. Shouldn’t they have fought a long time ago? In a rematch, right? Because Conor was taking him down the last time, and they both did good. Yeah, that’s going to be a good fight.

Diaz also said that he didn’t know how the fight would go. Nonetheless, the door may still be open for a potential trilogy against the Irishman for Nate Diaz regardless of what happens at UFC 329. Conor McGregor once seemingly revealed that he had 2 fights left on his UFC contract as he teased a move to bare-knuckle boxing.
So, the Irishman could potentially take on Nate Diaz to honor the final fight of his contract. But before that, Conor McGregor faces a very difficult test in the form of Max Holloway, who is debuting at welterweight for this anticipated rematch.
