‘Never forget who came in the game and made ye’ – Conor McGregor sends his wishes to Khabib Nurmagomedov
UFC star Conor McGregor has reacted to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement on his Instagram handle wishing him a ‘Happy Retirement’.
Khabib made his retirement official on Thursday stating that he was retiring from MMA. His announcement came six months after he proclaimed the same following victory at UFC 254 over Justin Gaethje. Despite the said proclamation, there were doubts as to whether the Russian meant it. Further, UFC President Dana White had been assuring fans that he would do his best to try to convince Khabib to return to the octagon. However, Khabib’s decision seems to be final as he has now made it official.

Conor McGregor was one of Khabib’s fiercest rivals as the two were involved in a much publicized fight at UFC 229 in October, 2018. Khabib maintained his unbeaten record during the fight by clinching it via submission. There were also plenty of incident surrounding the encounter including an attack on Khabib by McGregor and his associates only led to the feud heating up. The Irishman has now taken to Instagram to react to the latter’s retirement.
He wrote, “Happy retirement kid, smell ya later. Never forget who came in the game and made ye. Straight from my big Irish balls. Remember folks, if you hate cutting weight so much, all you have to do is move up a division. God bless.”
